The Firework Campaign accepts the rights of those who want to celebrate events such Bonfire Night, Diwali and Eid with fireworks, but there has been massive firework mission creep. Bonfire Night is far from “just a night”, it has morphed into a #fireworkseason. Fireworks are used to celebrate almost every event imaginable. Random fireworks, many set off deliberately to cause nuisance, explode all round the UK, 365 days a year, peaking in September, October, November and January - the firework season.

The Firework Campaign and our supporters want #fireworklawchange that addresses the ubiquitous use of fireworks and tips the balance in favour of people and animals alike and the environment.

We ask for:

1. Sales of fireworks to licensed users only
2. A reduction in days firework displays can be held
3. All displays to have at least 14 days advanced warning period

We believe these reasonable changes would allow for celebration of traditional events but more importantly they would reduce cases of stress in animals- pets, livestock and wildlife, reduce stress in vulnerable people (PTSD, autism etc), cause less damage to wildlife, protect air quality and pollutants, reduce firework injuries, save emergency worker time - police, fire service, medics and bring back a more peaceful life for millions of people and animals across the UK.
