The effect of competition. Reintroducing clovers into grass (phalaris) dominant swards. Direct drilled red clover. Roundup @ 0.5l/ha held the phalaris back and allowed establishment vs nil @TasInAg@meatlivestock@TheForageForum
Good to be able to show #Sulla#Cocksfoot#Clover in a #beef#grazing system to @Serve_Ag agronomists today. Sown in late April, the Sulla is developing a strong #taproot already, and the Legacy white clover is forming nodules. @eemuir @PGGWrightson_AU @meatlivestock
#GrazingTolerant Lucerne or #lucerne that tolerates grazing? We discussed this in the field today with agros from @Serve_Ag and showed the #sub-surface #budding characteristic of Torrens GT8 Lucerne, and why it persists under heavy grazing. @PGGWrightson_AU @eemuir
Some amazing differences in persistency showing up, and highlighting the value of trials in various locations. What do you think has caused the differences?

#Pallton#raphnobrassica being well grazed in autumn in Tasmania. This species seems to thrive on what would otherwise be considered “abuse” in #foragebrassica circles. Rotationally grazed (hard!) with good numbers, feed to production numbers - its a serious beast in the paddock!
Ever wondered why the first nip off graze is SO important? Here is a quick video with some key tips for setting up new pasture this autumn so you can get the most from this amazing home grown feed.
Stamina GT6 up and cracking on King Island - a very well prepared virgin paddock, with the perfect season to get away with sowing “late spring” (in January) #homegrownfeed#pggwrightsonseeds#lucerne#grazing#hay
That is a great photo Emma. Are you suggesting that the lambs ate the Pallaton , but preferred eating dry standing grass over the crop on the other side? Animals tell the story.
Most #preferentialgrazing stories are about the #foragecrop in question... here’s an example of the #fibresource being the preferred option to the crop... the lambs on the #pallaton haven’t chased every blade of standing hay before getting into the crop! #homegrownfeed
