When @NYCMayor took the unusual step of condemning a private Hindu community event, we were intrigued.

Then one of the mayor’s cash bundlers used her organization (which received a mayor’s office grant) to publish a statement under a hate filled portal, @WeAreSavera, signed by @CAIRNewYork & @sikh_coalition, to attack @HinduAmerican in the guise of opposing the event that HAF is uninvolved with.

Heavy jewellery, makeup and a miniskirt while visiting a grieving friend to offer condolences ?
A lehenga with a blouse and dupatta to a job interview ?
Shorts and a T shirt at your own wedding ????

Because context and occasion matter.

You might wear a bikini at the beach, shorts and a T shirt while jogging, and a lehenga with a dupatta at a traditional ceremony.

That is exactly the point being made by us.

Kriti Sanon's dress would be perfectly acceptable at another occasion, but it was simply not appropriate for the occasion of tying a rakhi to her brother.

But those who marry their own brothers and sisters would find nothing objectionable to her dress. Its our festival to celebrate the bond between a brother and sister.

Respect the emotion with the appropriate sentiments and dress.
