Excited to share a personal project I've been working on. The best thing you can do for your country in tough times is use the skills you have.
So I hope you'll subscribe, share and listen to Elbows Up, a podcast about how, exactly, Canada can be strong and free. Forever. 🧵 👇
@theTonyFerrari I would hope that a “heart and soul” of the team could score a single even strength point in the final month of the season to get a playoff spot after “his” team had been leading the division in January.
If not, ok cool, but then the “heart and soul” wasn’t exactly strong.
@JhanHky No doubt! Most of the players though didn’t take on for themselves a C, the mantle of their hometown team and speak repeatedly about the legacy they’d been entrusted with.
I have no doubt Dylan will succeed in a secondary role. Wish everyone involved had realized that sooner.
@JhanHky I mean, yeah that’s always been his destiny, clearly.
Credit to him for trying to embrace more I suppose but if you gotta quit, quit. I would say there’s no shame in it but there is at least some.
It’s just that all the normal Toronto people moved to the east end where, to paraphrase Tolkien:
“Life goes on much as it has this past Age, full of its own comings and goings, scarcely aware of the existence of east end Toronto, for which I am very thankful.”
@JeffVeillette But Jeff he’s done so much for the wings and stepped up his game in all the important situations to help them clinch playoff spots they lost by a few points!
Surely he has earned this but how will they overcome the loss of his stalwart leadership???!!!!
Give Mo the C tomorrow.
@RyanHanaWWP How far do you have to go back to find a Red Wings captain you can even imagine making this kind of quitter move?
Give the C to Mo tomorrow
Lucas Raymond has already scored more big goals in important games for the team in four years than Larkin did in his decade+ here. At some point a real captain would look in the mirror instead of at the GM.
I’m just saying.
I don’t disagree with this point, but at some point, after being close multiple times and fading, the “just get in” push relies somewhat on the team captain having an even strength point or two in March…………
This was why the "just get in" push was important, agreeable or not. Hard to sell your stars like Larkin at ~30 on contention when you can't even get into contention. #LGRW
@JFreshHockey This is the one annoying thing I’m gonna say here and I apologize: typical of this generation of American players. If I can’t be a front runner, get me out of here. Sidney Crosby would NEVER.
@JFreshHockey This is exactly how I feel as a (mostly) non annoying wings fan. Sure its sucks, but Larkin asked for this, posed as Mr Michigan, wanted the C, put it on him and then when it’s tough he’s gonna duck and run?
Put the C on Mo Seider tomorrow and let him wear THAT till he’s gone.
@JoshuaHowsam That was fun! Really got screwed with the two 1960s options, otherwise it kicks ass. (Also, this was my second try, because if you leave DH till last and get an NL team before 2010s you can't finish...)
I have now finally seen the Uncrustables Blue Jays commercial enough times that my brain recognizes that Ernie Clement’s arm has not actually vanished. It only took 6-8 weeks.
