ISMA is the largest physician membership organization in Indiana, proudly serving physicians, medical students and the patients they care for since 1849.
Physicians spend years going through the rigors of medical school and training to give those they treat personal attention and the highest level of expertise. Their knowledge and experience help patients make the health care decisions that are right for them. #YourCareIsAtOurCore
Physicians train for years to learn how to care for patients, how to distinguish among conditions with similar symptoms, and how to help patients gain the knowledge to make informed decisions about their health. #YourCareIsAtOurCore
The time physicians spend with patients is a critical part of their care. Explaining health conditions, answering questions, and ensuring patients truly understand their care gives patients the resources they need to make treatment decisions. #HealthLiteracyMonth
Also as an FYI to @RobSchneider in the event his post wasn’t a joke- perhaps the reason you didn’t see any sick kids when you were 10, is because they all died as infants… precisely because we didn’t have children’s hospitals to save them.
Perhaps this was a joke, but when @RobSchneider was 10 years old, life expectancy was 10 yrs less than it is today. Mature and rational adults can both acknowledge problems with our current health and healthcare, AND acknowledge the benefits of modern medicine & public health.
Today is Lung Health Day.
Take the first steps toward saving yours and reach out to @QuitNowIndiana for help to quit smoking. They can help with free coaching and a personalized quit plan.

The patient-physician relationship is the cornerstone of quality care at every stage of life. Every conversation, every checkup is an opportunity for parents to learn and make informed decisions about their child’s health. #YourCareIsAtOurCore
In every decision they make, physicians have one paramount goal in mind: the best interest of their patients. Physicians deliver high quality care by offering personalized advice and treatment plans honed by years of training and education. #YourCareIsAtOurCore
“With COVID, vaccines, Lyme disease, any of it — I’m not your enemy,” I told my seatmate as we were getting ready to disembark. “And I know you’re not the enemy, either.”
“True,” he agreed. “But they always want to make someone your enemy.” https://t.co/0JXiIM6Van

@PresAmerMed Mukkamala: Medical care needs strong health care teams, but those teams need to be led by physicians, the ones who have the depth and training to ensure patients receive the best care possible. Large majorities of patients say they want physician-led care. #YourCareIsAtOurCore
Leading off #ISMACon25 Day 2: @AmerMedicalAssn president Dr. Bobby Mukkamala. He warns direct and indirect effects of federal #Medicaid cutbacks will lead many people to not seek care, or delay the screenings that can catch problems early.
Final session of this year's #PhysicianWellness Symposium is underway, with a panel discussion featuring the rock stars who run ISMA's Physician Assistance Program. #ISMACon25
