I have 2 jobs, 2 kids, and a third income stream I’m starting from nothing to replace one of them.

I decided to stop waiting for the perfect time because now is as good as any to be my “one day” in the future to start building.

I know how to operate within constraints and how to squeeze out more from less through simplifying systems.

I write for high-output guys who’re tired of only finding advice written for 22-year-olds with nothing to lose.

And this could have just been our market (southern Salt Lake County and northern Utah County), but even in a pretty price conscious market we were able to generate significant business with good close rates.

So yeah I would say this definitely works, but the better play might be just finding an existing cleaning company and helping them to scale if you know how to do internet marketing and then doing the same in another market where you won't be competing with your current company.

My friend and I tried a similar thing for about 2 years starting in 2021, but finding good cleaners was extremely difficult

Felt like we would oscillate between having too much work and not enough work (since our capacity was never stable due to not finding good cleaners). Not enough work made cleaners look for other companies and too much work happened because the cleaners who wanted more work couldn't take on the work we got them.

Kind of blew me away at how difficult it was to find the people because we charged the cleanings per job and the pay was working out to around $30/hr per cleaner while we handled all of the customer service, booking, and lead gen.

Our most consistent cleaners were from another cleaning company we subcontracted out and we made a lower margin on them but at least got recurrings they could consistently show up and do.

Honestly if we cared more to try harder (we didn't because this was one of like 3 other things we were trying to do on top of each working full time jobs), we should have just helped the company we worked with scale since we proved we knew how to run marketing for the industry and taken a cut of any bookings we got them as pretty easy passive income.

@PurrsonVT @ErwinHugger Yeah same I probably spend about $150-200 a month on gas station level food (I get donuts each week for the office and zyns and gatorades) but that's like 1-2% of my household spending each month so wouldn't be that noticeable if I saved money by bringing food from home

@Paul0Montenegro If you break something, shouldn't you be the one paying for it? The only time I feel like it's acceptable to renegotiate the price is if the issue turns out to be way bigger once you're in it.

Like say you're putting up railing on a deck but you see the platform is rotting
