As of the most recent Statistics Canada data, there are now 525,479 asylum claimants in this country.

That is the equivalent of the entire population of Halifax. And that's more than three times as much as just four years ago.

Think about that. Over the last four years, Canada has been bringing in an average of 245 new asylum claimants every single day.

And the permanent immigration numbers are just as alarming.

In the first four months of 2026 alone, 83,149 permanent immigrants entered Canada.

At this rate, we're on track for 330,000 new permanent immigrants by the end of the year.

To put that in perspective: throughout the 1990s, Canada averaged 220,000 permanent residents per year. In the 1980s, it was just 107,000.

What's worse, Canada's population of non-permanent residents now stands at 2.6 million; meaning roughly one in every 16 people in Canada is here on a presumably temporary status.

Although this is down from the astronomic numbers under Trudeau, it’s still at historic record levels.

This isn't immigration. It’s an invasion of our social services, our housing, and our Canadian identity.

The People's Party has been saying it for years: we need a complete moratorium on immigration.

We need to turn off the tap. We need to prioritize Canadian families, Canadian workers, and Canadian taxpayers.

The time for half-measures is over. The time for a MORATORIUM is now.
