@JKuebler1@pjteacher55 @WeAre63Million @USCCB Yes. 2241 is very well written. However, the point of my comment was that it doesn’t specifically talk about Mexico and US border. I do not believe a wall along with fair and equitable immigration policies would be contrary to that paragraph’s intent.
@omeagoz@catholic4reform @foss_peder @Patrick_Coffin@CardinalFarrell@Pontifex Well, if male prisoners are having sexual relations with other males then that’s homosexual behavior. Again, obvious. The reasons why may vary but the fundamentals don’t change. All examples you mention are sinful and they’re not simply the sin of fornication.
@omeagoz@catholic4reform @foss_peder @Patrick_Coffin@CardinalFarrell@Pontifex Sorry, males having sexual encounters with other males is homosexual behavior by definition. Most victims are male and most perpetrators are male. There’s an obvious connection. Unfortunately.
@catholic4reform @foss_peder @Patrick_Coffin@CardinalFarrell@Pontifex Interesting perspective but the root of the issue is sexual immorality. Specifically, homosexuality. Most abuse victims were male and most of the accused (guilty when comvicted) were homosexual priests.
@USCCB Once again, the Bishops are WRONG. A wall would be a sign of hope for potential migrants and everyone already here. Don’t we ALL hope for a country that runs in an orderly fashion instead of mass chaos worsened by a porous border? #buildthewall
@pjteacher55 @WeAre63Million @USCCB There is no Catholic teaching on this specific situation. A wall and more robust and expedited LEGAL processes to enter the country would help protect and dignify migrants AND US citizens while weeding out criminals.
@cnalive The devil, through evil methods (contraception), promises freedom and happiness. This is another example of the actual outcome. More families starting out broken and missed opportunities for a promising future.
@thom_ivy_1@PatrickDeneen I replied that there are modern scientific studies that contradict your view and that it takes a male and female to make a baby. Your retort; my appeal is to tradition or natural law and that’s a fallacy? There’s only one fallacious line of reasoning here. Have a good morning.
@thom_ivy_1@PatrickDeneen Old studies have methodological flaws. Newer studies have shed more light on the subject and challenge your notions of indifference. Also, if a child doesn’t need both a mother and father then why does a child need both to come into existence? Hmm..I wonder.
@thom_ivy_1@PatrickDeneen Humans aren’t mice. We need to ask more than if we can do it, we need to ask if we SHOULD do it. That answer is no. Children deserve a mother and father. Ideally, their own.
@CatholicNewsSvc@CardinalDolan The Lay Faithful aren’t angry. But, we are frustrated. Most of all though, we’re saddened. The right course of action here is excommunication.
A statement issued by a spokesperson for @CardinalDolan said in general that "excommunication should not be used as a weapon," and that too often those who call for someone's excommunication "do so out of anger or frustration." #Cuomo
Excommunication is an act of mercy for the unrepentant to give them a clear signal that their immortal soul is at risk of eternal damnation. All Catholics who voted for this bill should be excommunicated. May we pray for their repentance and eternal salvation.
Regardless of Andrew Cuomo’s ineligibility for holy Communion on other grounds, his conduct in regard to New York’s new abortion law also suffices to bar him from holy Communion per Canon 915, says Edward N. Peters @canonlaw https://t.co/J7hOouul3S
