It was inevitable, wasn't it๐
Of course the Telegraph would run with something like this๐
So let's remove some of the rose-tinted spectacles and also look at some of that data comparing 1976 with modern heat waves
Because the 1976 nostalgia porn is wearing a bit thin at this stage

@AldredKeith I'm certainly not an expert in these matters but surely this is a one way road, the no left-turn sign indicates that anyone turning left would be cycling into oncoming traffic, no?
The 'except cycles' sign must mean cyclists can go straight on?
@TimesRadio@dcsandbrook@hugorifkind I would suggest @dcsandbrook is wrong about the Starmer / Truss conundrum. Truss was desperately poor for a very short period but didn't have the opportunity to do long lasting damage. Starmer has been dreadful over a much longer period.
This is awful. The last ever Denby Pottery going to the kiln. Why is there not uproar? Whereโs the government in this?? We all have Denby in our homes, in family heirlooms, as our history and now itโs closing through lack of support, such a sad sad day. #SaveDenby@denbypottery
"It is outrageous this idea that you cannot be English or British because of your ethnicity."
Sunday Times columnist Matthew Syed, who won a gold medal for England, tells #Newsnight that he finds the idea "profoundly divisive".
@JRmonkeybaby@terryelaineh1@PolitlcsUK I think that perhaps if there are genuine familial concerns that probably a different scenario to a general screening programme. But I'm not a public health professional, I only listen to them.
@JRmonkeybaby@terryelaineh1@PolitlcsUK Because the risk is higher for black men, which in the opinion of health professionals outweighs the risks of a testing regime.
@JRmonkeybaby@terryelaineh1@PolitlcsUK We can't administer every test to every person because they are concerned. We have to apply tests based on risk, because tests can harm people too.
@JRmonkeybaby@terryelaineh1@PolitlcsUK I'm sorry your dad died from the disease, it's awful. But unless we practise medicine based on risk the entire system would collapse. We can't do every test to every person (and not all tests are suitable for every person either).
@JRmonkeybaby@terryelaineh1@PolitlcsUK Of course white men get prostate cancer too. But surely it is right that medicine is practised on a risk based approach? If cumulatively the risks of testing are higher than the risks of not testing then it's better to not test. That doesn't apply to all ethnic groups.
