@jdogrey @WhatleyLeague It affects the amount of games you need to play to catch up, this means that to some degree the amount of time you have to play, has an effect on how high you can climb. If there was a limit this wouldn't be the case.

@SomeSona @cancerratarded That is indeed what is happening in chess with Magnus almost not having played in a year, but they also don't have decay. I agree however some medium could exist to ensure people with very high winrate rank 1 can still climb.

@SomeSona @cancerratarded As much as people hate it, you do it by making it so losing/winning to people below your rank loses/grants you less LP, same way as it works in chess. This way spamming games when #1 will slow you down, and a better player with fewer games consistently winning vs you catches up

@LeagueOfLegends How does increasing LP gains on average help with how grindy it feels? How are people who have school/jobs supposed to reach gm/chall, when the cutoffs are ever increasing, and it seems whoever plays the most climbs the fastest, rather than whoever has the most skill?
