“I need to print the animation and hang it on the door.”
They wanted a few-second animation of gears turning and a lock opening for an escape room.
The door was not a screen. Just a normal fucking door.
After several increasingly frustrating minutes, I asked if they meant a lenticular print or something, you know, so it can be a picture that moves.
“No, just print the animation.”
Eventually they showed me a YouTube video.
It was an animated character moving edited over a video of a guy holding a piece of paper.
They wanted me to do that.
IRL.
On a regular A3 sheet of paper.
I said that’s not how it works.
They said I didn’t know how to do my job.
Oh, to be a fly on the wall when they called another poor artist with the exact same project.
Btw, the escape room project never started.
I wonder why.
The absolute funniest part of capitalist ideology is that they somehow managed to convince everyone that "freedom" meant like...the freedom to choose between 63 kinds of shampoo, and not like...the freedom to quit a job you hate without losing your health insurance.

That episode of TNG where Captain Picard got a second chance to fix his 'mistakes' in the past and ruined his relationships with his old friends and ended up as a pencil pushing nobody on his own ship.
