lol when a poem is like, “you thought you could just revise this by tightening up the language?? nope, you need to dig down way deeper into your emotional core again!! good luck!”
i’d rather care a lot and feel “too much” and try “too hard” and say everything’s that on my heart than pretend i’m some “cool,” aloof person. i’m not here to not mean it. and by it i mean my life
had to mute some poetry accounts on here. just not interested in grand statements about the power of literature right now. you know, you really don’t need to be capital P Poets 24/7. just eat a reeses peanut butter cup and ugly cry like the mammal you are

This is an essay I wrote for @nytimesbooks about something my son Cal and I love to do together: reading. It’s about a joyful life with a child with special needs and how much any two people can really understand about each other. https://t.co/b8QkAnsIKi
"A few stanzas can pack an oceanic punch — that is to say, deep and far-reaching — and do so without the luxury of length afforded to novels. I'm interested in poetry as a form of controlled chaos." https://t.co/sj4jgDghxr
