Thank you to thought leader Nancy Blachman and others for sharing how #math mentors can have lifelong impacts on kids' relationship to numbers--especially when they are empowered to question, explore, and engage deeply at a young age.

Why learn math? We need to understand the math used to measure our health and design policies that govern our lives, so that we can respond appropriately when models become political. It can make the difference between life and death.

@drMi@mr_stadel@robertkaplinsky Thanks for sharing! It's great to see studies about math misconceptions. We're making a film about them! https://t.co/7CVK7sLmlW
We've been gathering math stories through filming and our KS campaign, and so many of them fall in line with these graphics.
It's great to see teachers looking critically at students' perceptions about math. Even at young ages, we are susceptible to inaccurate messaging about who is "good at math" and "bad at math." #MathStory
Interviewed my students to find out what they think of as math and how they see themselves w/in it. I talked to 5 boys and 4 girls. Interesting to note that every boy said he was good at math. Girls' answered "no", "I don't know", "a little bit" & "I think so?" #MTBoS#iteachmath
"It is hardly surprising that students so often feel that #math is inaccessible and uninteresting when they are plunged into a world of abstraction and numbers in classrooms."
