Final student project:
Hot Dog Factory!
Two @DobotArm robots, George Foreman grill for the hot dogs, toaster for the buns, and @VEXRobotics V5 for the main control and conveyor belt. Laser cut HMI.
Each component works separately and they have three weeks to put it all together!
It was such a fun field trip! Thank you @Cisco Systems for hosting us today! The girls loved it so much they stayed and talked for another hour when we got back to school. They had questions about network vulnerabilities, fiber-optic vs copper, supply chain, and more!
Northeast ECHS girls visited Cisco Systems for International Girls in ICT Day. They learned about careers in cybersecurity, hardware and software engineering, & project management. They engaged in speed mentoring and building & programming cars. Thanks for the pics @TheMrShaffer!
As we finished up our @VEXRobotics unit a student asked if he could build a tank… Servo motor to load rounds from a magazine, rotating turret, and functional firing mechanism.
Thank you to everyone who sent in 3D printer filament! So far we have received 18 colorful rolls and my students are so excited to use them! @NortheastECHS
What is your favorite brand of 3D Printer filament?
Would you like to donate a roll to our school ?
My students just finished assembling four new @Creality3dprint Ender 3 S1 printers to join our existing Ender 3 V2s and now we need more filament to turn their dreams into reality!
Texas Teaching certification preferred but not required, you can earn your teaching certification during the school year! Just looking for passionate engineers who want to train the next generation.
Do you want to join the Engineering Team with me at @NortheastECHS in Austin ISD? We're hiring another engineering teacher! Experience with CAD and basic electronics preferred. PLTW a plus. https://t.co/eWauE38ts8
This design was inspired by Marius Hornberger's video https://t.co/mbOHJM51dX
I was most excited about two things he had done: 1) separating the Z axis spindle movement from the dust shoe movement, and 2) A magnetically detachable brush holder.
My personal pet project this year was trying to make better dust collection for the @Tormach 24R. Here's a video of it trying to cut a 3.375" ogee profile. Even if I lowered the dust shoe a little there would still be a lot of dust in the air.
