This 12 year old little #LhasaApso came into us by pure fate on the day she did and within a short while of being with her, we noticed something wasn’t quite right with her. Following our instincts we took her straight to our fantastic vets where it was confirmed with an ultrasound scan to be a pyometra (a lethal womb infection) and she had literally hours to live.
Of course we gave our immediate consent to undergo the life saving surgery she needed. Bearing in mind her age and the consequences of not going ahead, we didn’t take long to come to the decision and thankfully the surgery went really well. It didn’t all go smoothly afterwards though and the wound struggled to heal and got infected and smelly. She needed three sets of anti biotics to help her clear this up and thankfully it is all now healed very well. These were very sore and infected but are also now thankfully much more comfortable and no longer infected. She will however need lubricant applied to her eyes a couple of times a day for life to keep them moist and clear .
Even though Lola is an older lady, now she has gotten over her issues, she is very fit and now healthy and is so very loving. She wants to be with her person all day every day if possible and is a real lap dog.
She can be left for an hour or so and loves a couple of steady walks each day. She’s very playful and has been good with all other dogs she has met or lived with. We've had the shop nearly 50yrs in Newcastle and every Xmas, without fail, we have complaints (from some) why we are opening on Xmas Day.
The fact is, we don't have the luxury of closing, Xmas day is one day we play catch-up from Supermarkets screwing us every other day.
Secondly- if you don't have a problem with pubs and restaurants being open- why corner shops ?
You also sit shopping online on Xmas day.

Food scientist here. Top priority has been to reformulate foods to be cheaper over the last few years. I used to occasionally buy what I design. No more. I always cook from ingredients now because the processed stuff is just so bad nowadays.
