@JCChristopher The complaints are helpful.
Tesla is prioritizing autonomy now because of Robotaxi. But private owners demand controls. Tesla needs to hear that. They can do better, and I think they will.
It may not literally be a geofence but a reliable map that flags "no-go" roads / zones / etc that unsupervised FSD must avoid. The map will require ongoing maintenance with rapid updates. Probably requiring online routing for live updates. That means FSD may require Starlink internet service to eliminate dead zones.
@robmaurer It's all about time frames. If I need my money in 5 years, SpaceX doesn't make sense. If I can wait 20 years, then it could be phenomenal. I'd like to see Monte Carlo analysis showing probability of returns at various intervals between those two timeframes.
@LongzTsla@JOBhakdi I agree to a point. FSD 14.3.3 is not sufficient for unsupervised self driving on the entire USA public road network. But maybe it is sufficient for properly mapped geofenced areas. That seems to be what Tesla is betting on.
I retired at 59. I got there by paying off my house and reducing my budget several years before resigning from my job. When it came time to retire, I already knew I could live on the retirement income, because I was already doing it. Having no house payment and no car payment made it work.
@Kristinartz None of them.
They all lacked the ability to autonomously and safely drive me to my destination with no intervention by me.
I didn't know how important that would be until I got a car that does that.
That has become my top requirement for a new car from now on.
@brockpierson Nearly impossible to get back to something I saw five minutes ago.
