@TwoRulesOfWar The salvage of the port of Massawa as described by Edward Ellsberg in his book Under The Red Sea Sun. Great story of can-do on a shoestring soon after Pearl Harbor.

One day last December, I went down into my film archive in search of footage that might show some of the men I'd written about in Fifty-Three Days on Starvation Island. I found a Marine Corps reel from 1943 that did exactly that. I sat stunned, watching this footage of Henderson Field, the planes and pilots of VMSB-232 and VMF-223. It shows the ruggedness of the conditions that August, how bombs were dispersed, the ways the ground crews worked on their aircraft, and some of the flight operations.
Happy 250th Marines. Here's some of that remarkable footage:
Happy St Crispin's day to all who celebrate it.

We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he today that sheds his blood with me, Shall be my brother..."

@planefag What's your scenario?
Just perusing Wikipedia, it looks like her longest operational deployment was around 4-5 days.
So, I would guess combat deployment would be around 7 days. Not because of physical limitations, but they didn't have experience with longer missions.
