After Michael Jordan scored a career-high 69 points in one game, Stacey King said:
“I'll always remember this as the night that Michael Jordan and I combined to score 70 points"
Amazing sense of humor. Stacey, you will be missed so much.
AWA Wrestling Legends Say Goodbye To Chicago's International Amphitheatre.
What also happened was that Dick The Bruiser & Wilbur Snyder (WWA) sold their stock in the Chicago wrestling club to AWA Owner Verne Gagne.
Bob Luce, the longtime Chicago legendary hype-man was no longer hosting the main TV wrestling show. He had to pack up his Hall Of Fame collection with him from the Amphitheatre. The AWA only went with the Channel 26 show, with "Mean" Gene Okerlund. They did give Bob Luce called Hall Of Fame Classics. Luce would talk about the old wrestling days at The Amphitheatre with Super 8 camera footage. However, it was never the same without him being involved in the then current product.
The International Amphitheatre closed in 1983, and remained dormant up until being sold to new owners in November, 1987.
Verne Gagne would continue to bring The AWA to Chicago, but instead choosing The Rosemont Horizon & UIC Pavilion.
The Amphitheatre was officially demolished in 1999.
