1930s - The Holodomor (1932-33): Stalin starved 3.5-5 million Ukrainians to death. Families ate grass, bark, even their own children while the regime exported grain.

1950s - China’s Great Leap Forward (1959-61): Mao’s central planning and forced communes caused the deadliest famine ever. 15-45+ million dead. Starving peasants boiled leather and roots while officials chased impossible production quotas.

1970s - Khmer Rouge Cambodia (1975-79): Pol Pot’s Year Zero communism emptied cities, abolished money & property, and murdered ~2 million (25% of the population) in the Killing Fields. Skulls still fill memorials from systematic slaughter.

2020s - Venezuela’s 21st Century Socialism: Nationalization, price controls & oil money fueled hyperinflation over 1,000,000%. Empty shelves and widespread hunger in what was once Latin America’s richest country.

Socialism’s track record is mass graves, empty stores, and broken economies.

Central planning doesn’t just kill innovation and crush freedom, it delivers poverty & death every single time it’s tried at scale.

The question is, do you trust the government to provide for you or would you rather keep more of your money and provide for yourself?

If your response is the latter you are for small government and you are a republican.

We must choose prosperity, liberty, and free markets.

Governor DeSantis and Governor Pritzker each just signed their 8th state budgets. The contrast couldn't be starker. And the lesson is that who you elect matters. Change out the politicians and you get different policies.
For reference, Florida is 1.8x more populous than IL, 23.37m people compared to 12.71m people. Now consider these points:
1. FL general revenue budget is $52B, IL is $56B. Because state's have different ways of budgeting, lookimg at the total FY27 budgets, FL =$117B, IL=$130B. This doesn't make sense.
2. Pritzker advocated for and signed the largest budget in state history this year and in previous years. DeSantis has lowered the amount spent every year for the last four years and vetoed over $10B in spending during his time in office. Pritzker's budget is up $16B since he took office.
3. Pritzker brags about his credit upgrades, but IL has the worst state credit rating, FL has the best credit rating.
4. FL has a rainy day fund of $18B. IL rainy day fund is $2B.
5. FL is pushing $78B in road programs and moving planned projects ahead 5-15 years. IL can't even get projects planned, permitted and built in a timely manner, so many projects are left undone and money sits in an account collecting interest. And now that surplus interest is being sent to the CTA to bail them out.
6. DeSantis has given back over $9B in taxes. Pritzker has raised taxes every year for a total of over $77B according to IPI.
9. FL is giving $5,000 signing bonuses for police officers. IL politicians want to defund the police.
10. FL is on the cusp of eliminating property taxes for 60% of home owners and they have no state income tax. IL has the highest property taxes, plus individial income and estate taxes, high corporate taxes, and there's been no attempt to meaningfully lower property taxes.
Yes, elections have consequences. But, it can all ve reversed. DeSantis barely got elected 8 years ago. Your vote matters.

My wife has a strict rule: I am not allowed to be left unsupervised in public for more than twenty minutes. This weekend reminded me why.

I’m standing in a long line at a garden center with a massive 50lb bag of specialized bird seed.

This woman behind me taps me on the shoulder and asks, "Oh, do you have a lot of birds?"

Standard small talk, But I’d been in line for fifteen minutes and I was bored.

I looked at her, completely deadpan, and said: “Actually, no, This is for me, It’s a new holistic cleanse I’m trying, High protein, great for the hair.”

The guy behind her immediately stopped scrolling on his phone.

The woman’s eyes went wide. “You… you eat that? Is that even safe?”

I leaned in like I was sharing a government secret. “The results are incredible. I lost 30 pounds last summer. The only problem is the side effects. Last time I did it, I ended up in the emergency room for two weeks. Tubes, monitors, the whole deal.”

She gasped. “From the seeds? Did you get a parasite?”

“No,” I said. “I was perched on a telephone pole trying to sleep and a hawk knocked me off. Fell forty feet.”

The guy behind her made a sound like a tire blowing out. The woman just stood there, paralyzed, trying to process the mental image.

Right then, my wife comes back from the bathroom, sees the look on the woman's face, grabs my arm, and starts dragging me toward the exit.

“He’s kidding,” she tells the woman. Then she turns to me: “This is why we can’t have nice things.”

I don't care. The look on that lady's face was worth more than the bird seed. 😂

@xHeraKita It really bothers me that "show standard" for some breeds means they have cropped ears. I would much rather see the natural beauty of the dogs. Also, floppy ears are adorable!
