An elder in our mosque is punctual for all prayers, despite having a day job. He had a major operation in the morning. He asked one of the local doctors whether he was at the top of the waiting list so he could make it back for Dhur Salah. After the operation, I met him at the mosque the same day. Understandably, he was in a weak state, so I told him he should have prayed at home. He replied that his heart finds it difficult to pray at home.

Truly, those whose hearts are attached to the mosque find it difficult to pray anywhere else. Among the people who will be under the shade of Allah’s throne on the Day of Judgment are those whose hearts were attached to the Masjid, as mentioned by our beloved Prophet ﷺ.

I honestly envy people like this, and they inspire me immensely. They might not be the most knowledgeable, but their actions and love for Allah are admirable.

“A protection from envy is giving charity and goodness as much as you are able. This has an amazing effect on repelling calamities, the evil eye, and the evil of envy. If there were nothing other than the experiences of the nations of old to prove this, it would be sufficient.

The evil eye and envy are not close to harming the one who gives charity and does good towards the creation; and if it befalls him, it is easy, and his ending is praiseworthy. This is because his gratitude is a protection for his blessings.

The envier's heart will not cool until the envied loses their blessing, and the slave does not protect his blessing with anything better than gratitude. In contrast, nothing exposes the blessing to becoming lost like ingratitude.”
