@larisamlbrown I could see Dan Jarvis accepting some significant Dixie y savings - which should mean reducing the size of the civil service and MoD infrastructure to more accurately reflect the size of the Armed Forces - but the Trade Unions won’t let him do that, so more capability will go.

@gregbagwell No self respecting CGS could agree to deploy troops without adequate protection and equipment in today’s battlespace. If they did, they’d be marching soldiers to certain death and answerable for the consequences.

@edwinhayward Not sure about your consensus. I voted to remain. A lot more should and could have been done to take advantage of the opportunities available outside the EU, but I’m not at all convinced that the price of rejoining would now be worth paying.
@stephenlaw60 One point on your #2. Juries are not told about previous records because it could influence the outcome. This is a sentencing consideration.
Today we went to Pitigliano in Tuscany. In WW2 the townsfolk hid their Jewish population of about 70 people from the Nazis. Today the synagogue in the old Jewish quarter has an armed guard. Two soldiers. Apparently every synagogue in Italy now has a police or military guard.
