Introducing "Chadtech visits Indonesia", an album of AI music, from me.
Unlike a lot of AI music, which is derivative of the most popular & widely listened to music, my album saves the endangered genre of Gamelan; expanding the scarce quantity of Gamelan-like music on the web
division is 20-40 CPU cycles. multiplication is 4. if you're dividing by the same constant in a loop, you're paying that tax a million times for no reason.
one reciprocal. computed once. everything else is multiplication.
When you get an AI to do a task, & you dont quite understand how it did it, there are those spooky feelings of vulnerability, or that the AI's ability is beyond yours
But here we were a network of 4, in which we were all kind of beyond each other in diff ways
AI milestone today:
My coworker asked me to ask my AI to write a summary of a problem so he could give it to his AI to take over work on the problem.
Among the 4 of us, none of us had enough context or capacity to solve the problem alone.
BREAKING: Google is planning to release 32 million mosquitoes across Florida and California.
The company has asked the EPA for permission to proceed, with the public given until June 5 to respond.
The mosquitoes are infected with Wolbachia bacteria, which stops them from reproducing and slowly collapses the wild population from within.
Google's previous Debug Project trial in California's Central Valley nearly eliminated mosquitoes from three test sites entirely. A separate trial in Singapore cut dengue cases by 70% within 12 months.
Google has now released over 1 billion mosquitoes across four continents. This new proposal is the largest deployment in US history.
I thought it would be fun to use AI to make like a heat map visualization of where these people came from to describe my ancestry.
But now that I see all these ppl in a huge list, I see that this would be the same visualization for millions of Americans. It's not unique to me
I making a text doc w the birth day & place of every one of my ancestors who migrated to the US
Dang, its taking a long time. I didnt appreciate how many people that is. 1000s
What way is this even "my" ancestry? Any random American with a lot of old US ancestry plausibly shares 5-30% of these ppl in their ancestry
@UnionJacked__ It helps working class voters because working class people buy things produced by immigrant labor. Voters regularly demonstrate how important things like the material costs of living and inflation are to them. The economic gains from immigration are huge.
@markpoloncarz No one in these replies have mentioned yet that George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were both catch wrestlers, which wasn't that different from UFC/MMA.
Maybe this should have been obvious. There is a lot of backrooms content online. My kids are constantly seeing backrooms stuff
1 of the cool parts of having kids is having a good perspective on whats new among the youngest ppl
Pic is me in my backrooms hoodie w/ my daughter & Washington & Hamilton
#Backrooms opens to GARGANTUAN $38.4M opening day FRI incl pre-shows!!
SECOND BIGGEST OPENING DAY OF 2026 beating Mario, Project Hail Mary & Mando!! Just slightly behind Michael.
Opening wknd #boxoffice in $80-90M range may result!!
Budget was only $10M.
JAW-DROPPING!!
Catch wrestling is a distinctively American martial art, that has been largely forgotten
But it's really cool and old and effective, and yes Abraham Lincoln and George Washington were catch wrestlers
It evolved into pro-wrestling & college wrestling we have today, neither of which retain the combat elements of catch wrestling
They would
The Founding Fathers would get blackout drunk and break stuff. Washington was a famously drunk dancer
President Jackson threw a kegger in the White House when he got elected. Later, Teddy Roosevelt staged fights at the White HouseโTrump isn't even the first to do it!
Chat GPT is really good at looking up genealogical info btw. Crazy good at that sort of thing. I asked it who my great grand father was, and gave it very little info, and in it's first reply it told me his SSN
Im a libertarian who tends to think of the world as working efficiently, so I feel challenged finding out that fat comedians who made jokes about being fat were only fat because they had normal food cravings &that their act and personality were downstream of being hungry rather than a calculated business decision
Re celebrities losing tons of weight using ozempic
I would have thought that for some1 whos job relies on their appearance & who makes so much money by being in front of an audience, there would be more factors to their weight other than if they could control their cravings
Makes me feel like I need to re-examine something about my world view
Many comedians were fat &its been easy to think that is bcs that makes to them funnier somehow
But w/ ozempic apparently that was a coincidence. Maybe part of what make comedians funny is rooted in self control issues?
Things I have walked in on my young kids doing in their unlimited internet access this month
