The point of forced diversity in historical movies is to create the impression that everywhere has been diverse forever. “We’ve always been at war with Eastasia.” When of course, with a few exceptions, most places have been very homogenous for almost all of history.

Terrorism is unfortunately extremely successful in Europe.

All you need is a couple of attacks and the consequences are enormous:

- all non-Islamic public events, such as Christmas Markets, will need heavy security to take place at all, including heavy obstacles to prevent trucks from killing people
- Pride will have to face the exact same fate now
- practically all non-Islamic mass events will be by default much more expensive now due to terrorism, terrorism literally gives Islamic culture a competitive advantage vis-a-vis non-Islamic events
- in addition, it gives Islam cultural victory because it makes everyone afraid from openly criticising Islam because they could be hit by terrorists next; any other religion and ideology can be criticised, but Islam is safe because of fear
- it causes the breakdown of civil rights by creating horrible precedents for all kinds of mass surveillance (which end up not even working because, even though everyone's known to the police these days, the justice system is so broken they can't prevent attacks)
- this breakdown of civil rights is then often used against simple dissidents of the ruling ideology (from the far-right to far-left pro-Palestine protestors)
- the typical liberal solutions to terrorism is "deradicalisation", which is the preferred solution for our therapeutised society, but in this case the terrorist literally was meant to go to a deradicalisation programme...

It is not at all clear to me how liberal society is supposed to overcome this. Random, individual terrorism is extremely asymmetric warfare against civil society.
