@Jason Big tech is actively taking a defensive approach to a lot of this. Not just because fear of competition. But they need a way to control bot traffic on their platforms.
AI is still so unevenly distributed.
You talk to some people and it’s like they’re living in 2022. They think of AI as generated videos and gimmicks, not something they can actually use to become dramatically more capable.
The gap between those two groups is getting ridiculous.
You need to host your own open-source LLM, then build chatbots or applications on top of that. You don’t necessarily have to host the models on-prem; you’re often better off renting cloud compute for that. If you’re technically savvy enough, you could probably get Claude to walk you through all of this. You could even hire someone from Upwork for relatively cheap.
