Watching closely the unfolding developments at the Parliamentary Ad Hoc Committee and the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry it is quite clear that Police Minister Senzo Mchunu was caught in a brutal, systemic crossfire between warring factions and deeply entrenched cartel networks within the criminal justice system. It is sad that the court of public opinion has long found him guilty without a shred of evidence.

Superb progress continues on the rehabilitation of the fountain outside @CityofBulawayo City Hall.

Speaking to the contractors this morning I was told that the fountain will be filled by the end of the week and tested on Saturday.

I am grateful that it appears it will be ready for next week’s Trade Fair when I will be hosting several Ambassadors at City Hall.

My thanks go to the Town Clerk Christopher Dube, Engineer Dibidi, his team and the Bulawayo based contracting companies which have made this happen.

As I have said repeatedly in the context of potholed streets and broken water delivery systems this doesn’t improve the day to day lives of residents but it is a symbolic act of where we want to take our great City.

The fountain is in fact going to better than ever before. It will be easier to clean than the old one, will have superb coloured lights and powerful water jet sprays.

Our vision for our City is to do the same in every sector - namely to transform our City into one of the most beautiful and lively cities in Africa.
