After a transitional period between 🇳🇴 and 🇫🇷, I am thrilled to announce that I have joined @ISYEB_UMR as an Associate Professor. I will be a fungal curator at the Museum national d’histoire naturelle in Paris @Paris_Fungarium.
@rosshm16 @OdedRechavi There is a reason Scientific Reports uses a https://t.co/n7JOyafUU5 URL. People basically pay a 300$ premium over PLoS One just for the url
@BioMickWatson It reminds me a lot of the investigation of the homeopathy claims in Nature in the 80's. From the investigation "The laboratory notebooks confirm that the position of the peaks varies from one experiment to another." https://t.co/VJr6dzf9ZB
@NKWhiteman For mycology, Meredith Blackwell has been organizing this for a couple of years. She arranges the interviews to happen during conferences, so travel costs are minimal

Caroline Langley (@__caro__line___) is crossing the country to start her postdoc, while Peter Dietzen, Michael Emerman & Jeannette Tenthorey have given up on X. I am happy to announce their discovery about ancient origins of antiviral Mx proteins https://t.co/N8maLM3jop 1/
Many Global North res. don’t know or care to know that our colleagues here pay reactives from their own salary. Even for myself, living in South America’s “richest country”, coming to these events financially is very damaging. My salary as a Full Professor is comparable.. 4/n

@PetterBMadsen@IMC12NL I completely agree. To be charitable, I think he meant that the system should change to address this, but was not phrased ideally.
Houston, we have a problem! I hope there is room for reflection after #IMC12 on this VERY obvious problem, so that as a community we can do a better. Check thread below for more information 👇

@e_hannula@Team_Thomma I do wonder if these practises have unintended consequences. Senior scientists have lots of results from their labs, and so can produce more convincing abstracts. Grad students submitting abstracts months in advance often dont have the results yet for specific claims
Not personal, but is repeated assignment of multiple (up to 3!) speaker slots to same (senior) presenter the best way to compose a conference program, showcase science diversity, & promote speaker diversity? Why not promote more ECRs? #IMC12#DiversityInScience
Looking forward to sharing some of our work on the spatial component of airborne triazole resistance in Aspergillus fumigatus this afternoon at #IMC12 My talk will be in Session 20, room Sydney at 18:00!
The Lewis Lab at UGA is searching for a research technician to support two NIH-funded projects. You can learn about our work at https://t.co/eXyUsoPNzW.
