@kdawgf1@vibes_good80031@BonnieBlueTK It holds a lot of weight, and I always appreciate having an honest conversation and understanding other perspectives.
Thank you and I wish you the best as well.
@vibes_good80031@kdawgf1@BonnieBlueTK I hope so, but i fear that most people's research is heavily biased by the political echochambers we have created. I hope that people are waking up to other perspectives as well to be truly informed. I am not as optimistic as you that this is happening, but I am hopeful
@vibes_good80031@kdawgf1@BonnieBlueTK Just because their intent may to be to elect more Republicans (or Democrats) doesn't mean that we should ignore all the downstream negative effects that come from manipulating the maps to their party's advantage.
@kdawgf1@vibes_good80031@BonnieBlueTK I don't necessarily disagree, but again gerrymandering for party benefit often creates a negative impact for cities, communities and also races. Though you an argue that race shouldn't be the motivator it is impacted by political gerrymandering
@vibes_good80031@kdawgf1@BonnieBlueTK What he said may be honest i dont know his intent. Racial gerrymandering is a very complex conversation. For example Rs and Ds have both redrawn lines to create racial heavy districts with different intents and have both torn apart districts for the same reasons
@kdawgf1@BonnieBlueTK Racial gerrymandering happens on bothbsides of the aisle. I dont know Rep. Williams but this post seems either naive or a hyper politicized response. It would be nice to have actual honest conversations about things like this
@mirandadevine It's a lack of empathy. Charlie may be right that you can't truly feel what another person feels. However, trying to, gives you insight into their perspective and promotes compassion. On the flipside not trying leads to a lack of perspective with assumptions and speculation.
@NeveltenJohn@AlexGodofsky@TheLastNeocon Agreed, I think there is room for compromise here. There just needs to be a desire to. There is no perfect answer, people with money are always going to find a way to influence policy and politicians.
@NeveltenJohn@AlexGodofsky@TheLastNeocon Citizens United opened the door for Super PACs and Nonprofit Dark Money Organizations. Both allow for unlimited donations by individuals and corporations with much less regulation
