HILARIOUS: President Trump: “When I’m gone, you’re all going to be broke. Your business model is going to be finished… That’s why tonight, to show how much I care about the press and I want to save your ratings, I am pleased to announce my intention to—and this is somewhat of a scoop—my intention to run for a fourth term as President of the United States… I won 3 times, now I’m going to do it again.” *Puts on ‘Trump 2028 Hat*
CNN's own poll: Trump has the highest own-party approval of any president this century at this point in a second term. 83% of Republicans approve, ahead of Bush at 78% and Obama at 76%.
Pretty sure there was a recent study comparing therapy for depressive thoughts , with an hour of therapy vs 50 pushups or something like that and it was a wash 🤷♂️
Most therapists are worse than useless. The vast majority are liberal women who don’t possess the life experience, wisdom, or moral or intellectual foundation to offer worthwhile guidance to anyone (especially men). Most of them got into the therapy business in the first place because they have their own deep mental problems. Now they’re acting as life guides for other confused people, despite being no less confused themselves.
But even in the relatively rare circumstance where a therapist isn’t a weird, dysfunctional person, still the practice of therapy presupposes that the best way to deal with your problems and “traumas” is to obsessively talk about them, which is almost always not the case. You’re better off going to the gym or going for a jog.
I know this is hard for people in our culture to understand, but “talking it out” is actually not the way to solve your problems most of the time. There’s a reason why most people in therapy stay in it forever. Therapy creates repeat customers. This is intentional. It’s a symbiotic relationship. The therapist needs her clients to come back so the business is viable. The clients want to come back because they have a narcissistic desire to talk about themselves and navel gaze in lieu of actually doing anything to take charge of their own lives.
@robkhenderson - true - have seen this , tied to the climate / war panic “not worth living in such a terrible world “ type ethos . you had a similar post on something like this as it pertains to abortion supporters having traditional families themselves ?
Elite opinions change fashion faster than elite wardrobes.
When you express a luxury belief, you are communicating your level of education, your income, and your sociopolitical sympathies. It is an expression of what the sociologist Pierre Bourdieu called cultural capital.
You are trying to separate yourself from the commoners, from the masses. You want to signal that you are better than them, so you express the beliefs fashionable among your class.
The question, then, is: What is the fashionable luxury belief of the moment?
Perhaps the most intuitive recent example is the Defund the Police movement in the United States. Survey data indicated that high-income Americans were the most supportive of defunding the police, while low-income Americans were the least supportive. White Democrats favored the idea more than black and Hispanic Democrats.
But that belief is now déclassé. It is passé. That was several years ago. Bring up “Defund the Police” with some of the people who championed it six years ago, and they become shy or embarrassed. They say, “Oh, we never really meant that.”
So what is the new luxury belief?
I have been speaking with psychologists and mental health professionals who tell me that some experts increasingly want to destigmatize suicide. Destigmatization is an ongoing project among cultural elites. Anything we once stigmatized as harmful must now be destigmatized, normalized, or reframed in more morally neutral terms.
I do not think they have gone so far as to describe suicide as good. But some appear to be moving toward treating it as a choice that should not be judged.
My question for these mental health experts is this: Would you destigmatize suicide for your own son or daughter if they began expressing thoughts of self-harm? Would you say, “That is your choice. It is perfectly valid. Living is no better than not living. Do whatever feels right”?
Or, when it comes to their own families and their own children, would they say, “This is very serious. We need to protect you and get you help”?
Perhaps their private response would be urgent and morally unambiguous, while their public position would remain softer: that suicide is a behavior like any other, that it must be discussed without judgment, and that we should not shame people who make that decision.
One of my most enduring ideas for a message to convey that I've never figured out how to put out there is basically this one: the saturation of our professional and political life with actors reading lines from scripts.
You've probably heard the theater expression "breaking the fourth wall." What it means is that the actors directly acknowledge either the audience or that they're in a dramatic production. The stage has three sides ("walls"), and the "fourth wall" refers to the invisible and psychological wall on the front of the stage that separates the drama from the watching audience. The idea is that the drama is happening in a contained little world that doesn't acknowledge the fact of its own dramatization or the audience watching it, except when it does.
In some performances -- and maybe you've experienced some like this -- there's an even more profound way of breaking the fourth wall, which is to make the drama immersive within the audience. Actors are placed like plants among the audience and at various times shout out, heckle, or even join the performance, thus revealing themselves to be actors. Sometimes this is made explicit. Sometimes it isn't.
In this situation, the "fourth wall" isn't broken but dissolved. The audience becomes part of the drama, and the drama is happening from what appears to be, but isn't, the audience. I'm not talking about audience participation here. I'm talking about performers embedded in the audience without the audience realizing it, playing a scripted role while looking like part of the crowd.
Taking this another step is, in fact, indicative of the world we live in now. This part is the message I have thought about almost every day for years and never figured out how I wanted to say it. That step is that there's no theater at all, but the immersive act with a dissolved fourth wall goes on all around us.
Imagine a situation where a nontrivial proportion of people in public life around us are actually actors playing scripted roles. Maybe they're politicians. Maybe they're pundits and influencers. Maybe they're journalists. Maybe they're actors playing actors. They're all actors, though, pretending to be politicians, professionals, pundits, influencers, journalists, and who-knows-what else.
It's not just that the fourth wall has been dissolved but that the entire theater has been dissolved. "All the world's a stage," wrote the Bard, but now taken literally. Some percentage of our entire political, professional, and information universe becomes a scripted act, and the real professional bodies in which they are embedded are the audience unaware, as are we, except we're subject to the performance in the literal political sense.
I think this is the world we live in now.
I think many of our politicians and professionals, and most of our influencers and pundits, are not those things at all. They're actors playing those roles, but not on a stage or on a show, but in real life.
As in the "dissolved fourth wall" immersive situation, we, the audience, not watching but living this performance, might sometimes be dimly aware that some parts of what's happening around us are planted parts of the show, but we're not always sure, or maybe we're never sure.
The difference is, there's no theater. The show doesn't end but just rolls into another act after another act after another act. You cannot get up and leave the performance, should you get bored, tired, or disgusted with it, because the performance is actually real life itself. There's nowhere to go, not because you're trapped, but because there's literally nowhere to go, at all.
This is the world I think we live in today and have lived in for some time now.
Once you become even dimly aware of it, it makes you want to scream. It makes you want to escape. It makes you want to shake your neighbors and tell them, but you know you'll sound like you've gone mad. And you will sound that way.
For those just below that level of dim awareness, no such good fortune is available. They slowly do go mad. They wonder if they're going crazy, and they are. They're inside the spell of the drama around them but think it's real.
Below that level of awareness, this is just business as usual, and everyone seems to be losing their minds over histrionic nothing.
And the situation presents an evil dilemma to those aware: play the game and become part of the scripted drama yourself, because it's the game and it can be played, or slowly boil in your own frustration at being unable to articulate with proof what you realize is going on all around you.
Most of these latter kinds do the most sensible thing they can. They scream for a while, realize the futility, and withdraw, which is the closest thing anyone can do to leaving the theater. They willfully submerge themselves to the level of the unwitting rubes, except they aren't unwitting; they've ceased caring. It is what it is.
I don't know what to call this state of affairs except to say it's "there is no fourth wall" like The Matrix or "where we're going, we don't need theater walls" like Back to the Future. I also don't know what to do about it.
I do think it's our reality, though.
I don't think we're ruled primarily by fools. I think we're ruled primarily by actors, all our world's a stage, and the production, frankly, SUCKS.
🚨 BREAKING: The US House just PASSED legislation that bans members of Congress from trading individual stocks, 232-198 — and they attached NATIONWIDE VOTER ID to the bill
198 DEMS VOTED NAY.
Pure common sense! The Senate should ACT FAST and send it to President Trump for final signature 👏🏻
These issues are MASSIVELY supported by the American people, 80-20 or higher.
The bill — HR 7008 — also seeks to prevent public officials from profiting off insider information.
Two books explain this entire concept:
"A Conflict of Visions" - Thomas Sowell
"Predisposed" - John Hibbing
Libs are often miserable, educated libs even more so. If you did a study on views towards America, this group would also likely be the most negative
MSNBC host accidentally nails it…
The far-left is driven by over-educated failures who can’t succeed in the real world, which is why they overwhelmingly hide in academia, NGOs and push socialism.
Unsurprising. The most resentful people in the US are those who believe they are owed everything and fail; the least resentful are those who were given nothing and achieve.
Chamath Palihapitiya @chamath "Bro, there is no failure."
"That is what other people think of you to keep you down. There's no failure. If you were left on an island and it happened, you would just brush it off and move on. It's everybody else that you think is judging you. But then, here's the secret. They don't give a fuck about you. They are living their own lives. So it's your perception of what they think of you."
"There is no failure. There's do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn. Do and learn."

It’s criminal the CEO makes 400X what the average worker makes but it’s perfectly fine that Taylor Swift makes 100000X more than the people who clean the arena after her concerts. A just society is one that rewards the exceptional qualities of the musician but not the executive.
i came to the conclusion that this story is so awful that we have no way to punish it. to commit to an appropriate measure of justice is beyond our willingness to do it.
Vacation culture has gotten a little out of control to me.
I live in southeast Tennessee, in the woods with my family and my dogs, and most of the time I do not have this huge itch to leave. We travel every now and then, but there is something really nice about actually enjoying the life you already have.
People act like you’re supposed to always be planning the next trip, the next flight, the next escape.
Then half the time you come home tired, behind, and wondering why you spent all that money to need a vacation from the vacation.
America is huge. Especially where I live, I can drive a few hours and see mountains, rivers, small towns, lakes, back roads, and some of the prettiest places in the country.
But honestly, some of my favorite days are just being home with my dogs, my family, the woods, and nowhere we have to be.
That feels like rest to me.
@Gabriele_Corno What is the purpose of this obviously fake video post ? If it’s like a feel good video that’s fine just say so . @grok shouldn’t these be labeled as such ?
🚨🇺🇸BREAKING: The CIA officer caught with $40 million in gold bars allegedly invented an entire fake top-secret spy program to steal the money.
As if this story couldn't get and wilder:
-David Rush allegedly built a sham "special access program," the blackest box in U.S. intelligence, so secret even top-clearance officials couldn't look inside without authorization
-The fake program posed as "continuity of government" work, the doomsday planning that keeps Washington running after a nuclear war
-He allegedly read in two colleagues as unwitting accomplices and used a made-up government contract to funnel millions, persuading a defense contractor to buy huge amounts of gold
-The FBI raid on his home seized 303 gold bars worth roughly $40 million, $2 million in cash, and 35 luxury watches
-Investigators say he lied about his college degrees, faked being a Navy pilot, and still sailed through the CIA's notoriously brutal vetting
-A judge ordered him held as a flight risk, and several CIA officials are now on leave as the probe widens
The scheme worked because of the system, not in spite of it.
The secrecy walls built to hide operations from China and Russia hid the fraud from the CIA itself.
A man with a fake résumé ran a fake doomsday program inside the most paranoid institution in America, and for years nobody noticed...

@NateSilver538 is a fraud of the worst order , pretending to not see what is right in front of his eyes for several decades . The system is by design, and is obviously corrupt and obviously a blue state issue , primarily CA, the avatar .
It's hard to overstate how much of an outlier California is for its slow vote-counting relative to literally any other state or almost any other industrialized democracy.
There's a TV show in Japan
that has run for over 30 years.
The premise: a parent sends
their two or three-year-old child
on an errand. Alone.
To the store. To buy tofu.
Across actual streets.
A camera crew follows secretly,
hidden, never helping,
as a tiny human in a backpack
completes a task most countries
wouldn't let a child attempt.
The kid cries. The kid forgets.
The kid gets distracted by a dog.
And then the kid comes home,
holding the tofu, glowing.
It's the most-watched thing
of its kind in the country.
Americans who discover it
cannot believe it's legal.
In Japan, we cannot believe
it's remarkable.
Fasting insulin. The earliest marker of insulin resistance. Detectable 10 to 20 years before blood sugar moves.
hs-CRP. Chronic inflammation. The mechanism that actually drives plaque formation. 2.98x risk. More than double LDL.
HOMA-IR. Your insulin resistance score. A free calculation your doctor already has the numbers for but never puts together.
HbA1c. Your 90-day blood sugar average. Shows what fasting glucose hides.
Lp(a). A genetic risk factor that 20% of the population has elevated. Most have never been tested. Cannot be changed with lifestyle. Must be managed.
Five tests. Five markers that actually predict disease. None of them on your standard blood panel.
