The Resilient Infrastructure and Disaster Response (RIDER) Center is a multi-disciplinary research center established at the FAMU-FSU College of Engineering.
If you work at RIDER or with RIDER faculty, reach out to Alex Music ([email protected]) with a description of your research to be featured in future posts!
💡 Grad Student Highlight: Farhad Farzaneh

Now that we’re in hurricane season, we want to provide some information about hurricanes and what you can do to prepare. Swipe to find out how hurricanes are classified! 🌩️ #hurricanes#climate#weather#resilience
This past Friday, I presented our @NSF funded research about the impact of Hurricane Ida on mold growth and human respiratory health issues in residential buildings at Florida Asthma Coalition Summit. Thank you @HealthyFla for the invitation!
Every year, sun glare contributes to around 3,000 crashes in the United States. @FAMUFSUCOE and RIDER researchers are helping to mitigate this problem by examining what drivers are likely to do when faced with sun glare. @NASEMTRB

Happy #FacultyFriday! Meet Pedro L. Fernández-Cabán, Ph.D, Assistant Professor of Civil & Environmental Engineering at @FAMUFSUCOE. He is interested in structural and wind engineering as well as natural disaster mitigation.
He and his team hold an active patent for new technology described as “an in situ measurement station for monitoring wind and water properties in extreme hydrodynamic conditions.” This will help monitor conditions during severe weather events.
Huge announcement! RIDER is back on Instagram. Follow us there (@TheRiderCenter) to make it easier to keep up with our research, events, and more. https://t.co/McVtENo4HS
Get ready for RIDER's next event! Field Day is happening this Friday, April 21st from 12-2 PM outside of @FAMUFSUCOE Building B. There will be games, faculty vs. student competitions, a bounce house, and more. Everyone is welcome to come celebrate the end of the semester! 🎉
