If you're among the few who have plenty material resources, don't feel guilty about it;

Except you did evil to get it.

But if you got rich by honest labour, don't feel guilty.

This is not a message of self-love or self-validation.

The reason why you shouldn't feel guilty is the reason why the brethren with less material resources shouldn't feel resentful or jealous.

This is not about massaging your ego this is about understanding the purpose of material possessions.

God gave you five talents not because you're superior, more righteous or more hardworking. Even the abilities and talents you have a gift given before you could even be conscious enough to ask for them.

It's a kind of election unto service.

God has given you because He wants you to use it for His purposes. In His sovereignty He ordered it that you would be here at this time, with such gifts and such opportunity.

To feel guilty about what God has done is to be too self-focused. It's a kind of pride from the backdoor.

You're not special. It's not about you.

Be generous with your gifts. Use it to build eternal reward for yourself, as Paul teaches...

1 Timothy 6:17-18
Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth, which is so uncertain, but to put their hope in God, who richly provides us with everything for our enjoyment. Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.

There's a burden on you and riches are deceitful. This means your money can whyn you to begin to think you're special or that you are independent of God.

Don't let the deceitfulness of riches lead your soul to perdition.

Continue to maintain your sense of dependency on God. It is God that gave you what you have and sustains what you have.

A minor lesson from the life of Job is to know that all you have can be gone in one day.

Continue to put your trust in God.

Finally, I'd advise you to be modest. Don't show off. Don't let people be able to tell how much you have by just looking at you.

Go out of your way to dress modest, use modest things. Don't brag. Don't be scornful.

Don't be snobbish.

Remember all you have was given to you. You didn't really "earn" it.

You know it deep down in your heart.

So don't feel guilty about being a rich Christian.

He will even surpass your expectations.

If you focus on getting rich or becoming famous, it will turn to ash in your mouth and you will pierce yourself with many sorrows.
