TL/DR: The DSA is exploiting the gutting of Civil Rights to gain proportionally more power within the Democratic party. Let me explain.

So, I was sitting here thinking through something. People post many variations of "The DSA is attempting to take over the Democratic party" or "The DSA IS taking over the Democratic party."

I agree with the first statement, but not the second. A take-over is, indeed, being attempted. However, the take-over cannot be fully achieved simply because they lack the numbers. They can win in pockets, typically due to low-turnout primaries. Maybe they can win a Senate primary. Doubtful they can win a general.

I mean all of the above as context for another idea. I'm sitting here, thinking through this, and I think, "Well, they don't have the numbers."

But then this occurs to me: Though they remain at a numerical disadvantage vis à vis Normie Dems, this disadvantage has *decreased* over the last few months. Why? Because Black voters lost power in the South. Therefore Democrats lost power in the South.

The overall composition of the Democratic party, while still not anything near majority-DSA, became slightly *more* DSA.

Is this a coincidence? Perhaps. There's been latent racism within that organization for a while. But it is something that is happening and it should be documented.

I think, too, of their seething hatred for James Clyburn. Their racist attacks on Black Michiganders.

So, yes, they are trying to take over the party. And one tactic is bullying Black Dems in the North. All while the party's composition in Congress inherently shifts due to the gutting of Black representation in the South.

We still outnumber them, though. And we are fighting back in increasingly effective ways. Keep it up.

Here’s the issue that parts of white America have with Black people. And I’m speaking specifically about the openly racist elements of the Republican Party and the DSA activists trying to reshape the Democratic Party.

Black Americans are a smaller percentage of the population, but we wield enormous electoral power because of where we are geographically concentrated, particularly throughout the South. The reality is that many Democratic candidates cannot win office without overwhelming support from Black voters. That’s the math, and that’s the source of the frustration.

The DSA is approaching politics primarily through the lens of class. Black America has always had to navigate both race and class. For generations, we’ve fought to gain access to economic opportunity, not because capitalism has always worked for us, but because we’ve historically been excluded from wealth. That’s why our families have encouraged paths that can create generational stability, whether through entrepreneurship, higher education, skilled trades, or athletics. We don’t apologize for wanting economic security after centuries of being denied it.

The same misunderstanding shows up in the attacks on the Jewish community. Jewish institutions have long invested in building community through philanthropy, education, entrepreneurship, and mutual support. Those traditions have helped create resilient institutions and opportunities that benefit countless people beyond their own community.

When Black and Jewish communities work together, you see two groups that understand what it means to survive discrimination while also believing in building institutions, creating opportunity, and investing in future generations. That coalition has accomplished real change, and that’s exactly why some people find it threatening.

Instead of confronting the economic and political failures within their own movements or families, some activists try to convince Black voters that our priorities should be subordinated to their ideological project. We’re not interested in that. Our communities have spent generations organizing, building, voting, and creating institutions that uplift people. We won’t abandon that work to satisfy someone else’s political theory.

The Black and Jewish coalition remains strong. We intend to continue building power, expanding opportunity, and defeating efforts to divide us. Move accordingly.

On the gradual (and very recent) invention of the "Palestinian" identity:

"When the PLO was founded in 1964, Israel didn’t control the West Bank or Gaza. Jordan controlled the West Bank and Egypt controlled Gaza. Article 24 of the charter states that it “does not exercise any territorial sovereignty over the West Bank in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, on the Gaza Strip or in the Himmah Area. Their only goal in 1964 was the destruction of Israel. It was only after Israel captured the West Bank and Gaza in 1967 that the Palestine Liberation Organization suddenly rewrote their charter in 1968. If someone had asked me before October 7th what I wanted to be remembered for, I would have said that I wanted people to know that I was a good father, husband, and friend; a fair judge; and a model American citizen.

But October 7th was a watershed moment in the history of Western civilization—not because of what happened thousands of miles away, but because of what happened here in our supposedly sacred institutions.

Hamas killed 1,200 innocent people. They butchered them in their bedrooms. They beheaded them at their dance parties. They blew them up clutching their families in their bomb shelters.

And yet, at my alma maters, in our universities, we Jews became the oppressors. Hamas raped dozens and dozens of Jewish women and girls, mothers together with their daughters. That's now clear beyond peradventure. You can go home tonight and watch the videotaped confessions of Hamas terrorists admitting to these unspeakable acts. They committed the crime of kinocide.

This was just announced in a recent report by an international NGO on May 12th of this year. It is the first documented use of kinocide as a weapon of war anywhere on the planet since Rwanda in the 1990s.

And yet, in our Western media outlets, we Jews became the aggressors.

Just insane lies and fearmongering. The bill in no way merges our military with Israel's.

It does not create combined command structures. It does not make mutual defense promises. It does not force American troops answer to foreign leaders. It does not even create a joint military force.

What you are is losing your mind about, AOC, is Section 219. All that does is create a more formalized process for the US and Israel to coordinate joint research, development, and testing of innovative equipment in areas like AI, missile defense, and cybersecurity. An American agent employed by the Pentagon will be tasked with synchronizing these cooperative tech projects and reporting to Congress.

In sum, the bill just further formalizes and streamlines the defense tech projects we're already working jointly with Israel on.

You are pretending a bill that is nearly purely bureaucratic and operational is some demonstratable alteration of the status quo. It very obviously is not.

Mayor Mamdani knew all along that he could never arrest Israel’s Prime Minister Netanyahu or any foreign leader in New York City, which hosts the United Nations. This weekend I shared a post voicing my concerns about the far left. The response has been overwhelming. Leaders in both parties called to tell me the same thing: this stuff has gone too far.

To be clear: I'm a progressive Democrat. My whole life, I've wanted to see a youth movement fight for affordability, for healthcare, for real opportunity. It’s time! The system has utterly failed the next generation. Young people deserve real change — and they are right to fight for a better future.

But the movement is being hijacked by too many people with insane, outlandish and nutty ideas that have nothing to do with affordability, climate solutions or health care.

For example: Mamdani picked a DSA candidate who wants to abolish the police, empty every prison, erase every border and discourage interracial dating. Okayyyy ... So clearly, Chevalier has no problem condemning things! UNLESS it’s a designated terrorist organization. Believe it or not: Chevalier has refused to denounce the terror group Hamas — four times. That’s INSANE — and progressives can’t be afraid to call nonsense like that out.

Supporting Hamas is NOT progressive. The idea of “no police, no prisons, no borders” — which would let pedophiles, human traffickers, terrorists, hate groups and crime syndicates run wild — is NOT progressive for vulnerable communities. Celebrating the murder of Israeli civilians is NOT progressive. These ideas are REGRESSIVE.

If we can't tell right from wrong, good from bad, smart from loony tunes — Team Blue will go down the same road that turned the Republican Party into a shell of itself.

We can’t let that happen to the Democratic Party.
