‘These faces, for me, they represent society, these faces next to each other is humankind and humankind needs an environment that is pleasant to live in’: Ivorian artist makes portraits using discarded rubber scraps
@LeedsCC_News@JamesLewisLab@tomriordan Your handling of these grants have been diabolical. You've purposely left self-employed ppl on low incomes that work from home with zero financial help & without opportunity to adapt their businesses to meet these challenging times. Feel ashamed.
@samflavin @LeedsMuseums@LeedsCityMuseum I've just seen this Sam. Thank you for your support with our Artistry Christmas Markets at the museum. On to pastures new, best of luck! 🍾
@hilarybennmp@ExcludedUK I've emailed you numerous times about this Mr Benn, I'm still unsure why the Labour Party still haven't forced a vote on this in parliament?
@AndyBurnhamGM@RishiSunak Andy you said yesterday you would ensure this goes to a vote, this still needs to happen. Not all of the @ExcludedUK are newly self-employed but low income earners, living from cheque to cheque. Government business grants need to include those w/o premises. We need funds to adapt
@eveyroo @mitreaplcr @WILD_igital The forthcoming grant needs to support self-employed homeworkers & the criteria shouldn't be so contrived that it excludes low income earners, like all of the other business grants created. Parity of grant for homeworkers akin to businesses with premises so we can adapt is needed
@ExcludedUK@RishiSunak@hilarybennmp I have emailed you previously regarding this issue. As a matter of urgency @ExcludedUK and I would appreciate your help and voice on this matter please.
Organisers & Market Traders without business premises are included in the criteria.
Much of the government guidance to council's seems too open to interpretation, if not optional;
@hilarybennmp Very commendable Mr. Benn. We've emailed several times about the lack of support for self-employed makers that work from home & have received nothing from the SEISS or Small Business/Discretionary grants. Where's the lobbying for us? Very tired of this viable business narrative.
@BibsyP @RishiSunak@ITVNewsPolitics@tomriordan @cllrjudithblake Yes, I do think Black self-employed artists/makers are more than likely to have received the least amount of financial business support during this pandemic & I would be interested to see LCC's data on this?
@BibsyP @RishiSunak@ITVNewsPolitics@tomriordan @cllrjudithblake Many self-employed makers work from home & the Small Business & Discretionary Grants criteria had room to be adapted if that council opted to. Cornwall council included makers w/o premises that could evidence a loss of income. LCC chose not to.
@LeedsCC_News Please can you stipulate that @FirstBusnews and other transport providers enforce the rules on travellers wearing face coverings and masks whilst on public transport - as this doesn't seem to be happening!
@SarahDunwell@LeedsCC_News@tomriordan Businesses in Cornwall that did not fall into one of the group's that the government asked Councils to prioritise were asked to submit Expressions of Interests for help - why were Leeds businesses not offered the same opportunity Tom & @hilarybennmp ?
