The gameplay is different, the world traversal is completely different.
It’s fully remade!
And I can vouch for the story since I played more than 2 seasons of the og game

Octopath Zero is the gacha turned full game minus the gacha element and with some new additions.
In the case of Resonance, only the story, music, and character sprites, and some animations, were kept.
