Cooper's girlfriend account of last night's incident had more serious allegations. According to the woman's affidavit, she told police Cooper grabbed her by the neck with one hand and lifted her off the ground and against the wall for about one minute.
However, she told officers she did not lose consciousness or experience seeing spots, which are symptoms consistent with being strangled, the affidavit says.
Officer Victoria Rodriguez, who wrote the woman's affidavit, said she did observe a small mark on her neck where she said Cooper grabbed her, scratches on her arm and a small cut on her hand, according to the affidavit. However, Rodriguez said the "marking and scratches did not appear consistent with a larger male lifting [her] up into the air by her throat as well as being repeatedly being thrown to the ground."
"The small mark on [her] throat did not appear to be consistent with the claim that [she] had been held up in the air by her throat by another individual," the affidavit reads.

Adam Hamawy celebrated his Democratic primary victory by shouting the takbir, "Allahu Akbar," three times.

For centuries, "Allahu Akbar" was the cry of Muslim armies as they raided, conquered, and expanded Islamic rule. It echoed across battlefields from the Middle East to North Africa, Europe, and beyond.

When a politician chooses to mark a political victory with "Allahu Akbar," people have every right to question the message being sent. The phrase carries a long historical baggage that cannot simply be ignored whenever it becomes inconvenient.

Words have meanings. Symbols have histories. And history matters.

I'm utterly horrified that a group of students in Boulder justified the deadly firebombing attack last year that targeted the Jewish community and encouraged others to follow the murderer's "act of resistance."

Anti-Semitic rhetoric like this continues to put the Jewish community at risk and paves the way for exactly the kind of hate-fueled violence we witnessed that day.

This behavior is a disgrace and should be denounced by every Coloradan and American. This is not who we are.
