#Hurricane#Beryl has intensified to a Category 5 hurricane with max winds of 160 mph - the earliest calendar year Atlantic Category 5 hurricane on record. The prior record was Hurricane Emily on July 17, 2005 at 0UTC.

We flew right over the top of Hurricane Beryl today. Peering down into the eye with the 50 to 500 mm lens gave me both an eerie feeling and a high level of weather nerd excitement.

Eye: 210mm (50 to 500m lens), f13, ISO 1000, 1/26000
#Hurricane#Beryl is making landfall on Carriacou Island (part of Grenada) as a Category 4 hurricane with max winds of 140 mph. Only one other Category 4-5 hurricane on record has tracked within 75 miles of Grenada (Ivan-2004).
