@Kate_Depressin@SBMPediatrics I still believe the baby is not starving the first few days and that might be my own ignorance that I chose to uphold from my experiences and education.
My opinion doesn’t invalidate your choices though if u feel they were right. Both can exist here.
@Kate_Depressin@SBMPediatrics I believe you if you say she was always hungry and it was better with formula. Heck, even if you said I couldn’t stand breastfeeding and wanted my body back: that’s as valid. I just know ppl who were scared into bottle feeding and regretted it forever.
@Kate_Depressin@SBMPediatrics Just to be clear: I’m not against supplementing where necessary and it sounds like for you that was the right choice. I’m weirded out by people who suggest supplementing in the first few days/weeks, even if the suckling habits and weight gain are completely normal and mom is ok.
@americanmom50@SBMPediatrics That’s tough! Did you supplement? My friend had the same issue, she also fought mastitis. One of the cases where supplementation was necessary. Another friend had to take meds, so she couldn’t BF. It is what it is sometimes.
@devvidoo@SBMPediatrics No need to be so aggressive. Claire said it. Sometimes the supply doesn’t grow due to numerous reasons, then it’s, of course, mandatory to supplement. However, my fat nephew (3 months, 18lbs, exclusively BF) is a great example of how it can be working just fine, even growing.
