The Government cut funding for Level 7 apprenticeships for British people over 22 because it couldn’t afford them, but has found £5k per worker for firms to hire non-British workers. Totally ridiculous.
The House of Commons Justice Committee has delivered its verdict on the Government’s plans to slash our ancient right to trial by jury.
It is scathing — and will make tough reading for the Deputy Prime Minister and Justice Secretary, @DavidLammy.
The Government has introduced the most sweeping constitutional reforms to the criminal justice system in years at breakneck speed, despite not having promised them in its manifesto. It seems to be allergic to scrutiny.
The Justice Secretary claims that curbing our precious right to jury trial will save Crown Court time and reduce the backlog of cases. Yet the Committee acknowledges that there is no concrete evidential basis for this claim. In fact, the Institute for Government has said the reforms would save only 2 per cent of court time, not the 20 per cent ministers have promised.
David Lammy’s 2017 review found that juries are one of the few parts of the criminal justice system where black and minority ethnic defendants do not face disproportionate outcomes. This Bill reduces the role of juries while simultaneously expanding that of the judiciary, despite only 1 per cent of Crown Court judges being black.
Back in December 2025, Lammy himself said the reforms would not be applied retrospectively. That is no longer the case. Defendants expecting a jury trial could now have their mode of trial changed without a hearing.
The Free Speech Union’s research has shown that those accused of speech-related offences are almost twice as likely to be found not guilty in the Crown Court before a jury than in a magistrates’ court without one.
Judges, lawyers, opposition MPs, Labour MPs, and even victims of crime have warned that David Lammy’s reforms will undermine public confidence in the criminal justice system.
We must defend our right to trial by jury.

🚨NEWS: It has been revealed that the NHS are kicking patients off waiting lists then re-admitting them as new patients to artificially hit the Labour Governments targets
So in the blink of an eye, an attempted beheading by a migrant has been turned into a clampdown on freedom of speech by the Labour government. Everything Starmer does is designed to enforce an agenda that no one voted for. As always with him, it’s smoke and mirrors deflection.
Please listen to this courageous woman speaking with me tonight - the mother of Rhiannon Skye Whyte 👇
She’s asking for very basic changes to asylum laws including tagging illegals and medical checks
Keir Starmer and this government are IGNORING her 🤬
He's not bothered about child sexual exploitation on Pornhub, OnlyFans, Roblox, or any of the countless platforms where children are groomed, abused, and exploited. He's not demanding tougher sentences for predators. He's not demanding the closure of sites that profit from sexual content children can access. He wasn't particularly interested when the BBC spent decades covering for prolific celebrity nonces or when LBC parade around government psyop whore Bonnie Blue.
What he cares about is @X.
Because X is where people get news, compare notes, share evidence, and discover that what is happening in one town is happening in another. From Penzance to Portugal - we are one.
The pretence is that this is about "misinformation" and "encitement", but the actual target is the means by which ordinary people communicate with each other.
They've tried destroying our pubs and our churches and communities - where we congregate and talk and unite. But we found somewhere else, so that has to be destroyed too.
What they forget is that the British were organising long before mobile phones, the internet, social media, television, radio, or newspapers.
For a thousand years we organised rebellions, uprisings, protests, petitions, and resistance movements armed with little more than word of mouth, churchyards, market squares, pubs, and messengers on horseback.
The Iceni managed it.
The Cornish managed it.
The Levellers managed it.
The Chartists managed it.
The people who fought the Romans, the Vikings, the Normans, and every other power that tried to impose itself upon them managed it.
If people are angry enough, they will find each other.
They always have.
Let's just say that measuring your success on school absence against the Covid peak is, perhaps, a little disingenuous...
In fact, school absence is falling more slowly than it was before the last election.
Pure ideological tosh from Labour. Education is a public good and should never be taxed.
Labour imposed a punitive tax, there was no subsidy or discount.
By imposing a tax they squeezed and punished families, forcing schools into closure and imposing a greater burden on the state system. We are seeing this all over the country.
Even worse, Labour said they would deliver more teachers with this money but they have failed to do so.
You improve the education system by bringing standards up as the Conservatives did, not by punishing children and parents. Labour’s approach has hurt everyone.
Just a pity you haven’t increased defence spending to cover the cost of this necessary 14% pay rise. You’re taking it from other parts of the defence budget, further hollowing out our military, which started under the Tories.
@oldishbird1@NeilRos55889793@DPJHodges@AsplinKevin Starmer has been in govt for 2 years and it is getting worse. This happened under him. Are you happy to leave ECHR so that such people can be deported?
