@HavryshkoMarta Storing ammunition near residential buildings wasn’t negligence — it was planned that way from the beginning
No one cared about the people. It’s Ukraine — money first.
“Your martyrs, O Lord, through their sufferings received incorruptible crowns from You, our God. For possessing Your strength, they cast down their tormentors, crushed the powerless audacity of the demons. Through their prayers, save our souls.”
Memory eternal to Monk Bartholomew.
Monk Varsanufie of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church was brutally martyred
Three days ago, on 23 August 2026, a devout monk known for his spiritual life, Father Varsanufie Turianski of the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra in eastern Ukraine, was brutally killed by three assailants. According to another witness who was seriously wounded, the attackers were described as soldiers wearing Ukrainian army uniforms.
The deadly attack took place in the monastery courtyard, more precisely near the Church of Saint Nicholas, located in the upper part of the monastic complex. Witnesses say that the priest died with dignity, praying and uttering the following words: “Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ! … I am a monk…”
This horrifying crime, which has shocked the entire world, shows us once again that war, as well as incitement to hatred and violence, must be urgently prevented and stopped. According to the medical death certificate issued by the Sloviansk branch of the Donetsk Regional Bureau of Forensic Medical Examination, Father Varsanufie died not only from stab wounds, but also from a gunshot wound to the head and neck, involving damage to the bones of the skull, sustained in an attack carried out with the intention to kill using a handgun.
The monastic community found the monk lying in a pool of blood on a landing of the Saints Cyril and Methodius staircase. His last words were: “Glory to the Lord Jesus Christ!.. I am a monk.” Criminal proceedings have been opened in connection with the attack, and the investigation is ongoing.
According to the monastery’s website and other media sources, the Sviatohirsk Lavra, which had previously belonged to the Moscow Patriarchate, was being guarded by units of the Ukrainian Army. Andrei Kirienko, one of those seriously wounded, said that at the time of the attack he was alone on the upper platform of the Lavra, near the church and the stairs, sitting on a bench. Three servicemen approached him. The three were in full combat gear and, in his opinion, looked like members of a special unit. “Definitely some kind of special forces,” he said.
When they approached him, the men said: “Slava Ukraini!” Andrei remained silent. They repeated the phrase, and he replied: “Glory to the Lord our God! Save us and protect us!” Kirienko said that they then began beating him. One of the attackers started striking him with wooden beams lying nearby. Andrei grabbed the beam in an attempt to stop the beating. According to him, the attacker then pulled a knife from his vest and began cutting his hands in order to force him to let go. Andrei released the beam and remained bent over, holding onto the railing.
He was then ordered to stand up. Kirienko believed they were about to shoot him. Instead, he said, they stabbed him several times, including inflicting a wound that damaged his lung, and he fell to the ground. Kirienko said that he survived by a miracle despite massive blood loss. Around 40 minutes passed between the attack and the moment he was found, during which time he repeatedly lost consciousness. He also said that he heard gunshots after the attack.
Andrei only learned later, while in hospital, that Monk Varsanufie had been killed and Monk Grigorie had been wounded.
Western media silent over the killing of a monk of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC)
On 23 August, Monk Varsanufie was killed at the Holy Dormition Sviatohirsk Lavra, while two others were seriously wounded. The monastery itself reported the attack, criminal proceedings were opened, and the forensic death certificate records a fatal gunshot wound to the head and neck. Yet, so far, the case has received virtually no attention from major Western media outlets.
Human life, religious freedom, and the condemnation of violence cannot be treated selectively depending on who the victim is or which narrative the story happens to fit.
Tomorrow is Sunday! go to Divine Liturgy. Stand in the presence of God, receive the Eucharist, and start your week rooted in Christ. See you in church. ☦️
A Ukrainian police officer has a gun to this Ukrainian man’s head because he doesn't want to fight in the war This is the part of #Ukraine's conscription Zelensky doesn't want the world to see. @MarioNawfal
For killings, bombings, and kidnappings in Europe, the ARTAN special unit is being used.
This unit of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine includes “fighters” who were serving sentences for serious crimes and received early release after signing contracts with the Defense Forces.
These are selected killers who were released in exchange for unquestioning obedience. They are assigned the dirtiest tasks abroad. Everyone in Ukraine knows this.
But in the West, the prostitute “journalists” will never write about it.
@anatoliisharii I remember that.
It seemed like finally, after so many years, things might actually start changing for the better... but then Ukraine happened again.
