I think what @OGandE doesn't understand is that most of us just want answers. Real answers. Not bullshit estimates. 11days without power. Lives on hold. Money wasted. No answers in sight.
I have officially made it to 30 whole years old. 2020 has been...wild is a bit of an understatement, but I still feel incredibly grateful to have stuck it out. Here's to the next 30. May we all find what we need.
La cathédrale de #Nantes en proie aux flammes ce matin...
Pensée pour les pompiers qui luttent contre le feu.
Certainement encore un malheureux accident.
People are literally out here fighting for their right to suffocate to death. Fighting for their "right" to kill others in a gruesome, terrifying, nightmarish way. America's fetish for "individualism" is going to kill us all. People are looking at the case numbers, and shrugging.
Hi. You can tweet Black lives matter, but if you’re leaving and going places without a mask, you don’t really value Black lives.
COVID-19 disproportionately affects Black folx. The latest COVID mortality rate for Black folx is like 2.3 times higher than the rate for white folx.
They did this in ‘92 with the beating of Rodney King and went to an all white county in search of “an impartial jury”. All four officers were acquitted.
Elijah Weatherspoon, 18, went on a boat in Charleston Harbor with 7 white people, never made it back. They claim he jumped overboard & they couldn’t get him back on the boat. His family/friends say he could swim. An athlete. Mismatched stories from “friends” on the boat(thread)
To be clear, I am suggesting these books because they provide actual analysis. The authors situate that analysis within ideological traditions they clearly name. And they explicitly interrogate the intersecting forms of oppression that power institutional racism. This is the bar.
The intersecting forms of violence that shorten Black lives do not come from a social, economic, or political position of “fragility.”
It comes from the forces outlined in these books.
Then Read “This Bridge Called My Back” to understand why I shouldn’t even have to say this.
