America was founded as a Christian nation.
-9/13 original colonies had state churches
-Original law codes were based on the 10 commandments
-Mayflower compact stated the founding purpose was “for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith.”
@ostrachan If “religious liberty” means we have the ability to choose between Christian traditions, then I agree.
If “religious liberty” means we can worship false gods on American soil (which I expect that’s what you’re saying), then that’s retarded.
I’ve never adopted the label Christian nationalist for a variety of reasons, and I never will.
But if this report actually says what I’ve been told it says (see below), it’s such a slanted and biased portrayal of what Christian nationalists believe and teach that it will only create more division in the PCA.
Are there people out there who fit each of those descriptions?
Sure. It’s the internet. There are weirdos saying and doing just about everything.
But they aren’t representative of the whole.
What a mess…
Ethnonationalism is the view that England is the home of the English people and that if the English are crowded out by other peoples, it will cease to be truly England. This is not absurd or confusing, but is entirely reasonable and historical.
All of Boreing’s episodes seem to have a certain…recurring theme. Can’t quite put my finger on it.
Wait, yes I can. Every episode has one of two premises. Every…single…one:
1. Israel is a super wonderful country and for the sake of Western Civilization, we’ve got to support this incredible Jewish nation. Anyone who oppose it is a secret Nazi.
2. Anyone who wants a Christian nation in America is a secret Nazi, and any challenge to religious pluralism is a danger to Western Civilization.
Every guest is a tier-one Israel First Influencer, every episode a virtual Israeli infomercial, and his monologue scripts are imperceptible from material published by the David Horowitz Institute, where Boreing got his start at the Israel Lobby think-tank.
It is curated propaganda in the form of candid conversations, masquerading as independent thought. It is not; give me the topic ahead of time, I’ll give you the talking points before the show starts. Any guest could be replaced with any other guest, and they would have the same conversation, same opinions expressed, same perspectives given.
You’re still a nice lady and wonderful human, though. You’ll agree with me one day.
I don’t care if Orcs just want a better life.
They don’t get to just live in the Shire because Mordor is horrible.
Orcs don’t become Hobbits if they’re born in the Shire.
The Shire is for Hobbits and they want to have a good life in the Shire too.
SCOTUS: “The 14th Amendment means even if you’re born to illegals if they give birth to you on American soil you’re an American!”
Jacob Howard Author of the 14th:
“This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens.”
Remember that domination by foreigners is a biblical judgment against wicked nations.
Mass immigration cannot be understood apart from our tolerance of baby murder, sexual degeneracy, and many other national sins.
Christians often believe that they must earn the right to preach the gospel to a particular individual. They think that they need to make repeated relational deposits before they can make any withdrawals. Clearly, this isn’t the practice of Jesus and the Apostles.
God has not only given us permission but also commanded us to proclaim His truth to everyone. This doesn’t mean that we throw relationships out the window. It just means that we needn’t feel guilty about cutting to the chase evangelistically.
You don’t need to earn permission. You’ve been given a mandate.
This seems like a good day to talk about "Youth Ministry":
1. Youth Ministry has been an absolute failure.
2. It turns out, removing children from the Divine Service (which God instituted), their parents, and the sacraments; and placing them in some age segregated quasi-service (that God did not institute), lead by a quasi-Pastor, only produces quasi-Christians.
3. But because a series of Cottage Industries have cropped up around this position, many Christians don't even think about questioning the validity of Children's Church.
4. The entire basis of Children's Church is focused on the idea that kids cannot understand the Sermon being preached from the pulpit, so they must be taught elsewhere. There are a few issues with this:
-Kids pick up more than you know.
-This is based on the faulty assumption that the main thing that is taking place in the service is a lecture to be grasped.
-This is often used to hide the much uglier truth that adults have grown to despise the sound of children in the congregation.
5. Further, the lack of wisdom in placing children outside of the care of the parents and grandparents, handing them over to some dork who thinks that "Youth Pastor" is a real thing, and letting them be trained up by their peers rather than by mature Christians is breathtaking.
6. We must remember how Youth Ministries started. They started in England as a way to reach Non-Christian children who could not be catechized by their parents (many were orphans). But even in the beginning, there was a great deal of backlash against the movement. Because Christians realized that if they continue to do this:
-We would start using Youth Ministries for actual Christian children which would lead to their removal from the Divine Service
-Eventually, Parents would stop catechizing their own children and would leave that to the "Youth Pastor"
Both of those things happened.
7. Finally, this has been an obvious disaster for the church. At the same time that Youth Ministry was ascending in the church, we saw greater and greater numbers of our children apostatizing.
The answer is not more Youth Ministry. The answer is the God-ordained Divine Service, faithful parents catechizing their children, access to the saving waters of baptism and the true body and blood of Jesus Christ.
