When your working life rewards you, it’s easy to ratchet up the complexity: homes, cars, travel, possessions etc.
I have found that all that complexity comes at the sake of your most fleeting asset: your time. Instead of building things, all of a sudden you’re dealing with minutiae and logistics. Instead of talking mostly to engineers, you’re talking mostly to non-engineers. The building stops…the business of managing self inflicted complexity begins.
It’s worth noting that the best players in the game (Buffett, Elon) have kept their life extremely basic, almost monastic/nomadic, as success ratcheted them ever higher.
I think it’s the biggest secret hiding in plain sight:
When the world upgrades your status, downgrade your complexity.
@aw_trades_ Everyone who puts in the time and attention for long enough can learn to trade and find their edge, no matter if you're a kid, teen, grown-up, woman, or man. :)
If you're unprofitable and struggling with prop firms
Here's what actually works:
→ Aim for 1-2R max per trade
→ Risk 0.5-1% per trade MAX
→ Only take your best 2-3 setups per week
→ Target 3-5% profit for the entire challenge
→ Stop trading once you hit target
The goal isn't to maximise profit
The goal is to pass WITHOUT breaching
High win rate from low RR trades = smaller drawdowns = easier to manage trailing DD
Most of you are aiming for 10-15% returns in phase 1 with 1:3+ RR trades
Then you hit one 3-4 trade losing streak and you're done
Meanwhile the guy aiming for 1:1.5 with a 65% win rate passes easily because his equity curve barely moves
You don't need to prove you're a great trader in the challenge
You just need to pass
@Jason@grok From grok : Total EU crude imports in 2025 were down 8.8% overall, with Russia's contribution negligible in absolute terms (e.g., August 2025: 499.4 thousand tons, a 44.7% m-o-m drop).
The EU's goal is zero direct imports by 2027, and they're on track with under 3% in 2025.
The greatest gift I taught myself this year was the skill to trade the markets
A skill I'll always have in my arsenal. As long as financial markets exist, I have a job. For me, it's not a job, it's a passion.
