Bari Weiss has basically declared war on real journalism. People need to remember that Weiss had literally no news room experience. She doesn’t have the basic qualifications necessary to be a CBS stringer, but because she sucks up to the rich she gets made the boss.
the most powerful defense against fascism is simply to use whatever power you have to stand up and say things that are just and true, and refuse to accept the lies of the Dear Leader's minions. well done, Scott Pelley.
I'm not sure what world the media lives in, but in the real world, when you publicly berate your boss, you are likely to lose your job.
It's not "retaliation" when you fire someone for insubordination. It's called "termination for cause" - a clause in every employment contract.
Barstool Sports might be the perfect example of a bad acquisition.
Wrong expectations. Underperforming results. Throwing good money after bad.
All leading up to an $850M writeoff.
Is there a worse one out there?
The media narrative over the last 24 hours is that Scott Pelley is a hero for speaking truth to power.
I fundamentally disagree. And believe the conversation about Pelley and CBS News more broadly is missing the most important point.

Does Trump and cbs realize those reporters on 60 Minutes.. they have massive followings. Now they can look into whatever they want. Legacy media takeover just in time to be useless.
The CBS Evening News has plunged in the weekly Nielsen ratings since new News prez Bari Weiss remodeled it. It's no longer even remotely competitive with the competition on ABC/NBC. 60 Minutes remains in Nielsen's top 10 week after week, but Weiss is hellbent on "revamping" it.

This CBS thing is annoying because people behave as if a news organization is supposed to revolve around whatever leadership was there previously, and it doesn't work that way. When I was at the Dallas Morning News, the editor of the editorial department retired. cont...
The DOJ has dropped 23,000 criminal cases — including hundreds of investigations into terrorism, white-collar crime and drugs — while prosecuting 32,000 new immigration cases in just the first six months of Trump’s second term.

BLANCHE: The president chooses to pardon is not a problem, period
IVEY: What's the legal basis for that?
BLANCHE: The Constitution
IVEY: The Constitution does not give him the authority to pardon in exchange for payments. It does not permit bribery
Ousted “60 Minutes” correspondent Scott Pelley called out CBS News and Paramount’s new leadership and accused them of harming the weekly news show’s reputation in a bid to curry favor with the Trump administration.

BRUTAL indictment of @bariweiss by Scott Pelley:
"For my part, new management has instructed me to inject falsehoods and bias into a politically sensitive story. I’ve been told to include assertions that are unverified." Then it gets worse...
Good. The press corps has gotten ever more insular, arrogant, and aligned with a single political party all while refusing to recognize it. The clean up must happen.
Jeff Bezos: "If people want me to pay more billions, then let's have that debate, but don't pretend that that's gonna solve the problem. You could double the taxes I pay, and it's not gonna help that teacher in Queens.... Airbnb isn't causing high rents. What's really causing high rent is government intervention."
