Dak Prescott on blocking out the noise: “One of the best things for me that happened when I was young is, I don’t remember exactly what it was, but it was before I signed off of Twitter. Some guy just telling me how terrible I was. Go back and look at some of his earlier tweets and hell, he's my biggest fan the year before when I was a rookie.

“When you see that sometimes, you understand that people are just going to talk and people are going to have an opinion. If you’re doing things right, you should have haters. You should have people that are upset about it, doubting you. So just trust in yourself, trust in your faith and trust in what you’re going to do and who you are, and get people around you that love you and love you for who you are, that can support you the right way and it’ll make it easier to block out the noise and to stay focused on what really matters.”

How does he block out the noise?

“Just the maturation of getting older, life, standing where my feet are, understanding you actually are what you hear, you actually are what you take in. So just limiting the noise, as Nick Saban says, the rat poison, whether it be good (or bad). I don’t even like the compliments sometimes because I don’t want to feel too good about myself or get too high and then this game has a great way of humbling you.

“So just remembering that whatever you hear, whatever you’re speaking, that is who you become. So surround yourself with the right people, surround yourself with the right knowledge and do the best you can to take in the information that you’d be proud of that’s going to make you the person you want to be.”
