You're not stuck.

You're feeling stuck, because you're afraid to make choices.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

I’ve been thinking about this while building Whatisdue: keeping the fee beside the payment makes the gross and net amounts easier to understand later.

Here’s the website if you’re curious: https://t.co/eIYuiuDYBO

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

The client sends $500. $474.70 lands after a $25.30 fee. The client still paid $500.

Which fees are easiest to lose track of across your client payments: platform fees, bank fees, or something else?

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@firacloudtech If you lower the price, I’d shrink the scope too. A smaller paid first phase can still help the client, and it gives you both a clearer basis for pricing whatever comes next.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@franklora0524 @ShruPosts @framer WordPress gives you more control, but I’d also check who holds the domain, hosting account, and premium plugin licenses. A handoff isn’t real ownership if the client can’t update or move the site without the agency.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@GeorgeObuntsgf I’d add an approval window to the package too. Two revisions sounds clear, but a project can still stretch for weeks if client feedback arrives in drips.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@ProductivaHQ A deposit protects the start. I’d also give the remaining balance a clear due date or milestone. “The rest on completion” can get surprisingly ambiguous.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

For context, I’m building Whatisdue around this problem: keeping the expected payment, partial receipts, and balance together.

If you’d like to take a look: https://t.co/eIYuiuDYBO

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

When a client sends only part of a milestone payment, what do you record first: the amount received, the balance still due, or both?

I’m curious what your current system makes easy—or easy to miss.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

One expected payment, however many transfers it takes.

That’s the distinction we’re building Whatisdue around: https://t.co/eIYuiuDYBO

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

One milestone can be paid in three transfers. That’s still one expected payment—not three new amounts owed.

Record each amount received, then check what’s left. How do you track split payments?

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

A part payment isn't a paid milestone. Record what arrived, and keep the remaining balance visible.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@elonmusk You said it would happen, and you delivered. Congratulations!

When can we expect it to be available?

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@hassanrahim Pretty PDFs are the easy half of billing.
The hard half is still which client owes what after fees.
I built https://t.co/kX6sndk1v7 for that part.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@thebrianmoncada WordPress clients rarely open a retainer the same week as the build.
They need one delivered site first.
Then monthly care feels like the next step, not a leap.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@michwirantono @TypedreamHQ I still take WordPress clients while I ship my own product.
Not because the product is weak. Because rent doesn't wait for launch day.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@nizamdesign "$12,500 ready to claim" is the best card on this screen.
Contract money is rarely lost to a no. It's lost to a date nobody was watching.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@mark_forrester @photomatt @automattic Client WordPress handovers fail on the same three things.
Dead links, missing embeds, and a contact form that quietly stopped sending.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

@neerajjj6785 Tracking real numbers, by far.
"Client paid $300" can still mean $291 received after fees and $200 still due.
I built https://t.co/kX6sndk1v7 to keep those apart.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

I used to start WordPress builds after a verbal yes in chat.

Then the "small tweaks" never matched what I thought we agreed.

Now I don't open the editor until scope and deposit are written down.

[Thein Marma @TheinMarma]

4 boring checks before a WordPress site goes live:

The contact form actually delivers email.
A backup exists and can be restored.
The admin username isn't "admin".
The client has their own hosting login.

None of these come up in the design review.
All of them come up later.
