I'm enjoying lunch outside and students at the table beside me are revising Frank Sinatra's L.O.V.E. in the wake of Dobbs.
𝄞 𝄫 L is for the laws you place. On me.
O is for my freaking ovaries.
V is very very vasect-necessary
E is even worse than anybody could endorse.
In the same 24 hours, scotus made abortion illegal in half the country and the Senate of the largest, most "progressive" state in the Union confirmed that yes, they would like to keep prison slavery in place. That's sitting heavy with me today. #ACA3#RoeVsWade#EndTheException
Congratulations to Emily Howes, @EmilyHthinks, winner of the @Mslexia Novel Award with her phenomenal debut TAINT!

I think a lot about how this site breeds and algorithmically rewards negativity. Teaching Twitter: can you tell us what is the nicest comment a student has given you? (Or, if for some reason, sharing a compliment feels too weird, the funniest?)
@Lady_Electric But what's so amazing about that is how it expands beyond your class. We're always hoping they will take what we teach them into the world, and this student confirmed that it worked for your class. I love it! Thank you for sharing.
Today, I resigned from @Publix.
After 4 years of service, I was so disheartened when the company failed to even make a statement following more than $200,000 in donations to the sponsors of the Don't Say Gay bill.
Let's all call on Publix to #StopFundingHate.
My state: no funding for the humanities! It's a useless profession with no effect on the world.
Also my state: if students read a book that so much as mentions race or the word "gay" they will be forever changed! Books are the most powerful things in the world!
