@EssexPR How can you be optimistic about a new PM who has told us nothing of substance about what he intends to do?
If his acceptance speech is anything to go by, anyone old enough to remember the 1970s has every reason to be petrified.
@DerylLynn Identity politics is a dangerous game. You end up with a lot of MPs but zero talent. The PM is surrounded by something abundant yet useless. I shudder to think what damage Rayner will do as HS.

@DerylLynn However, in spite of having a lot of greenhorns, Blair had control of his backbenches, something few PMs can claim once the harsh realities of governing started to bite. It's OK to protest in opposition, in power singing from the same hymn sheet is essential. 2/2
@DerylLynn 1997 was a turning point. All women short lists resulted a huge number of MPs who were not chosen on merit alone. Better representation is important, but so is competence. Not that I am suggesting that competence is defined by sex. Far from it. Just look at David Lammy.

@DaveKent101 Is that 10% what the Government will take or leave for the relatives?
As for scrapping IHT. I suspect that's a red herring. The levy will end up being in addition to IHT.
@RachelD1892 Considering how low Starmer set the bar, it would be very difficult for anyone to slip under it. That said I ain’t going to be holding my breath.
@LibertyRising6@CaptDrimmie There are many who are extremely concerned, but they risk jail if they air their views. They’re not cowed by this risk, rather they choose the battles wisely.
The old English proverb “You might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb” applies.
@moppymcmophead@sharrond62@GBPolitcs No offence intended.
If you’re inclined to pull people up for typos, you might want to check your own typing before posting. I assume you didn’t mean to type “I’m you’re” or “He old bags”.
Not that referring to Ann as an “old bags” sounds very respectful on your part.
@sharrond62@GBPolitcs The posts were insensitive & offensive. The toe rag nailed his colours to the mast. But criminal?

@DerylLynn@JetDog1000 The People's Republic of Piddingtion, has a nice ring to it. And if it comes to a civil war, considering the reported state of our armed forces, they might win.
Vive la revolution!
@SullyDrummer@Artemisfornow The headline and your response don’t quite add up. Headline talks about benefits and 3 kids, you’re discussing a scheme for the disabled regardless of whether they have any kids. More information is needed.

@toadmeister Has Baldrick been appointed Chief Cashier? Is this one of his cunning plans?
They want a cashless society. They want digital currency. Are they trying to make the bank notes as unattractive as possible in the hope we refuse to use them?
