Postmil without theonomy is simply revivalism. In the postmillennial future, the law goes forth from Zion. Postmil-theonomists have long highlighted the failures of these “awakenings” which were long on emotionalism and short on emphasis on law and true repentance.
I can’t see how Postmillennialism works in real world terms. For example the Great Awakening revival in Britain or New England USA was hugely influential on the populous of that period. But go to Britain or New England today and what do you find? In a few generations it is all gone. This is in keeping with the Biblical record too. Look at the history of Israel and it is a cycle of revival and apostasy ending in a final apostasy. Thus Postmill is not a true reflection of the Bible nor evidenced in our own history in the Protestant English world.
@justawhitefella @bbwoofield While this concern may be legitimate related to the way some theonomists have engaged on this issue, I don’t think it has any resemblance to the theonomy I hold to.
@RealTonyGurule@JanBart29597476@EYakoby PSA: Theonomy would abolish the law order in “The Handmaid’s Tale” as it doesn’t expunge old covenant rites nor does it possess biblical principles of due process, proportionality of penalties, equal rights of women as witnesses, to read, write, etc. THMT is anti-thenonomic.

Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Phil Visher has become a theonomist.
He’ll now call for the end of religious pluralism in America (incl. for immigrants) and call to enact civil punishments for blasphemy, homosexual acts, witchcraft etc. right?
He isn’t just using scripture to pander and virtue signal is he?
“When an alien resides with you in your land, you shall not oppress the alien. The alien who resides with you shall be to you as the native-born among you; you shall love the alien as yourself, for you were aliens in the land of Egypt: I am the LORD your God."
