Yes, even then, when already all was fading, waves and particles, there could be no things but nameless things, no names but thingless names. - Samuel Beckett
@trimethelp I understand. But the Gov isn't demanding you increase capacity, she's setting a minimum standard. She also said bars must close by 10pm but that doesn't mean they can't close earlier if the owner thinks it's the right thing to do. If service needs are being met now, why change?
@trimethelp The increased cleaning is great and appreciated but transmission from contaminated surfaces is less likely than through respiratory droplets spread by people in close contact (within 6 feet), according to CDC. I don't understand the motivation to roll back these protections now.
Something overlooked in the coverage of Jim Mattis's statement denouncing Trump: He specifically endorsed the anti-police violence protests:

@trimethelp Hmm. I'm not sure public health authorities would totally agree with that. I assume passengers are still at least breathing in the direction of the driver as they pay their fare. That certainly takes place within 6 feet.
@maxoregonian I'm curious about data comparisons and often wish the news would provide better context. My research: officers per 10k residents for PDX is 14.1. Cities w/ similar pop. size/density: Denver 21.2; Sacramento 13.2; Las Vegas 20.9; Fresno 14.3; Milwaukee, WI 31.5; Columbus, OH 21.9.
@Rjaellis I appreciate that @tedwheeler is trying to make this more humane but Rapid Response is tasked w/ cleanup & "dispersing campers." What does the latter look like? Is transport to a shelter provided? Otherwise aren't we shifting people around & not reducing the number of campsites?
