@Hr7dub3hd @mtsw When the fed says their PCE target is an annualized 2.0 rate of inflation they are saying it is annualized from the instantaneous rate of inflation, it doesn’t matter what happened a year ago, it only matters what is happening right now
@Hr7dub3hd @mtsw Why not use 20 years then? Think about it.
The sample size is the same by the way, those would be the prices
Think back to what your teacher meant when they kept saying “the limit, as delta x approaches zero”
You are so close
@FerociousBeast@mattyglesias I mean this is a lie, it was offered functionally as a grant that they had to run through the loan program for expediency, but everybody knew it was earmarked to be zeroed out later
@whstancil Nothing has been more damaging to my view on the validity of the history we are taught than being alive since the year 2000. I believe dates and places, nothing more, its all made up.
@webcommenter@mllichti @Angry_Creosote I will admit the “hot” and the “cool” part of this might not be the best time to be outside, but i know of no major city on earth that has less area/time outside warm/comfortable.
@mllichti@webcommenter @mtsw @Angry_Creosote @akgerber I spent part of an august in italy, twas hotter than here. I was in greece in june it was hotter than here. But thats still preferable to freezing in cold southern CA winters or worse
@mllichti@webcommenter @mtsw @Angry_Creosote @akgerber It is? I just got back from dinner outside at one place and then desert outside at another, im wearing jeans and a shirt, its fine. Its only hot if you stand in the sunlight at high noon in the middle of august. But still not vegas hot.
@mllichti @mtsw @Angry_Creosote @akgerber I've looked at other major metropolitan areas on earth and there really aren't any with better climates. A few islands here and there and that's it, but no major cities.
@mllichti @mtsw @Angry_Creosote @akgerber This is really overblown by people who aren't used to the climate. If I went to AK i'd lay in my hotel shower and would refuse to leave cause I'm not used to it. We spend as much time outside as anyone else in the US, we just aren't ever freezing while we do it.
@akgerber@mllichti @mtsw @Angry_Creosote lol wrong, hot is managed with "naked" and "water" which are both great. Alaska has to pay people to move there; the people have spoken with their southern migration.
@MarcGoldwein@katekgen@BudgetHawks Then when things "opened up" and you got your job back, when you went to apply for a carloan/mortgage, you got laughed at. Cause you need "2 consecutive yrs" of tipped income and lol. Everyone else qualifies after two weeks! So no car/home for 2 yrs (almost 2023! Hang in there!)
@MarcGoldwein@katekgen@BudgetHawks I don't think people understand even the "good" service industry jobs are bad now. When everyone lost their job, you weren't made whole, you got like $40k max in unemployment. You didn't get to work from home. If you had benefits, now you had a bill to pay (ours was $1600/mo).
@willhmcguire@mattyglesias I'd like to see some math on that assertion.
We take $300B in profits from the drug companies that now won't send them to stock owners - ie rich people with a lower propensity to spend
We do the 2k cap on out of pocket, now seniors have more to spend, and have higher propensity
@anitamlre@Atrios Fun fact no part of PA borders the Atlantic
It's midwest, I'd know, I lived a decade and a half there and another decade and a half in milwaukee, thems the same
