The reflecting pool clown show is just a perfect encapsulation of this incompetent, stupid, and corrupt administration that serves the whims of a deranged cretin and weaponizes its failures against political opponents:

1) remove filters, especially because of Obama’s reopening — award the nearly $2 million contract without bidding to Trump’s neighbor and donor

2) give the painting/sealing job (without bids) for nearly $15 million to a company nobody had ever heard of but which seals highway culverts at 20% profit margin; Trump initially said he had an unbelievable pool guy but then claimed he didn’t know the contractor — these guys failed to properly seal the pool

3) new dark paint absorbed heat and warmed up the stagnant shallow pool, producing an explosive growth of algae — the administration poured hydrogen peroxide to kill them, but by then the poor surfacing job had caused the sealant to delaminate

4) Trump immediately blamed “vandals” for deliberately destroying the sealant, and his army of rented repeaters promptly made them into Democrats — because obviously the time-honored consequence of hiring a shitty contractor for a publicly financed project is to get a top-notch execution at bargain prices.

5) deploys National Guard to prevent further vandalism from Democrats, creating yet another fake emergency that needs to be stopped by force (one should recall that JD Vance wanted to crush Minnesota’s protests by force — we now know from Haberman & Swan that he was pushing to invoke the Insurrection Act despite publicly claiming restraint — because otherwise… something, something, insurrection! which of course didn’t happen).

The Trump cycle is simple, like the man himself: do something utterly stupid to promote his ego, engage in endless corruption as the band of merry grifters descend to gorge themselves in the trough of public finance, obtain a reliably predictable terrible result, blame the Democrats, ANTIFA, Iran, Europeans, Ukrainians, or Martians, use the alleged “terrorism” to tighten military control, intimidate states, and pass some even more restrictive legislation, then move on to the next project.

Come to think of it, the strategy works. Except in Donny’s head it really is just a list of grievances and enemies, real or imagined, who fail to appreciate his greatness. But the calculating assholes that have swarmed around him like flies on shit know very well what they are doing.

🚨 BREAKING: The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool is being drained.

Just days after refilling the newly painted "American flag blue" pool, crews are emptying it again after a major algae bloom turned the water green and reports emerged of blue paint peeling from the bottom.

Officials say they need to repair a broken water line, inspect the coating system, address peeling paint, and rethink their algae-control strategy.

A $15 million renovation was supposed to turn the pool blue for America's 250th birthday.

Instead, it turned green.
